Default Divorce
Salaam,

I am needing some advice/guidance upon divorce procedures.
I am currently seeking a divorce - I will be doing this by writing a talaq nama which requires two witnesses.
Can anyone tell me if the two witnesses need to be the same people as the ones who signed, as witnesses when marriage papaers were signed?
or can tehy be a different set of people?

Thank you in advance

Wa alaykumussalaam,

As a male, a divorce pronounced by the man, without any witnesses, and without any writing or signature is valid and acceptable in Islam.

However, scholars recommend to write it on paper in front of witnesses, so no misunderstanding will arise later on, whether talaq was given or not.

Thank you brother.
Would you know if the same set of witnesses would have to sign for the marriage an divorce papers or can they be different?
