As-Salam 'alaykum
Today in an environment where Muslims in America, Europe, and other places are being subjected to 'Islamaphobia' and difficulty...it becomes important to maintain the proper approach and attitude in dealing with non-Muslims. Dawah has become more important during these stressful times. We are obligated to strike a balance between extremes. So we want our non-Muslim friends and associates to be Muslims not because we seek to impose upon them or dominate them. No, we want Islam for them because our way is the best way for humanity to have true success. If we really care about people as human beings then we want what is best for them. However we should make clear that our caring, respect, and regard for others is not conditioned upon THEM being Muslims...it is because WE are Muslims who adhere to what Allah ta-'ala has stated in His book: "The noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the best of you in conduct" (49:13) May Allah help us to be those who are the best in conduct by walking in the footsteps of his beloved, Muhammad (saws) |
