Amir Khattab (rahimahullah) said:

"We the young men are responsible for everything happening to the islamic nation. And we sit seeking more of this life's rubbish: satellite dishes and other desires like a car, the salary, the house, and the wife. Obesity has increased among us and now we have bellies of 5-10 meters. Discussions and arguments increased and we left something immense by which Allah gave glory to the Companions (of the Prophet SAWS) RA when they were rough Beduins with bare feet. We have no solution but to be truthful with Allah and be sincere in dealing with the issues of the Muslims and to prepare ourselves. If Allah knows that we are sincere, then He will favour us again. [...] Those brothers are like roses in their youth. They left affluent, beautiful lifes, they had everything in it. And they were indeed truthful, only Allah knows. A person goes through a lot of obstacles and questions inside of him before he leaves the worldly (materialistic) life and becomes dedicated to serve the religion of Allah. Instead of just being optimistic and saying 'May Allah reward you with good by the will of Allah, if not this time, then by the will of Allah, in a next case and by the will of Allah, one day the glory of this nation will come. We don't know from where it (Glory) will come...' Instead of saying that (they should act)..."

So true....the words of amir khattab rh. I remember some classical videos of him. When he was swimming, BBQ etc....subhanallah. ALLAH give him al-firdaws ameen.

Mashallah he was a True Mujahid. why was his hair so long? i thought that was against the sunnah??

Some of the rulings (masā'il) pertaining to hair, beard, moustache and nails are different in Jihād circumstances.

A scholar should be consulted for details.

Hmm, got my dates wrong then. As far as I'm aware, he has three kids and I'm pretty sure he got married around 1999 so that would make his oldest a max of 10 years

Be aware of the context and your personal temperament and qualification before applying Amir Khattab's advice.

Every young Muslim should strive to serve the Deen Islam according to his capacity. If you
are living in the Western world and start acting like Amir Khattab , you may soon end up in the net spread by the intelligence agenices.

So , know yourself , and then act. Do not be a dupe or useful idiot or a patsy.
