Default Where is Bilal ibn Rabah (RAA) From?
I'm quite sure that if asked where Bilal ibn Rabah (RAA) is from, you will all say that he is from Ethiopia. However, can anyone give me definitive proof that he is in fact from Ethiopia and not from Yemen? From what I know, the sources say that Bilal ibn Rabah (RAA) is from a place called Sirah in Yemen.

Al-Hafidh Al-Dhahabi says in his book Siyar A'laam Al-Nubalaa:

"What is most apparent is that Bilal isn't Ethiopian."

I'm waiting for your responses inshaAllah

You should put more effort into working on where you will end up rather than where Bilal was from, or what color the Prophet was. Does it really matter at the end of the day to you? Are you 'Arab? Have you been to an 'Arab country? What if he was black, or blue or orange, how does it help you or your Islam?

Is it ok for you if Bilal (RAA) is called something that he isn't? Why do you find that ok? How do you know what it is that will make you end up wherever you end up? Do you know the story of the women who ended up in Hell for not taking care of a cat? If Bilal (RAA) is from Yemen, should it be said that he is from Ethiopia? Is what is said about a Companion of the Prophet (SAWS) unimportant to you? If so, why? You don't want to know the color of the Prophet (saws)??? Why not? Why did the Companions concern themselves with his description? Are you more pious than they were? If there was piety in not discussing the appearance of the Prophet (saws), the Companions (RAA) wouldn't have discussed it. I don't understand where you all get this idea from. You don't want to know your Prophet (SAWS)??? Why not???

Calm down, man. If you have evidence that Bilal was from Yemen, then post it here. We will ponder on it, inshallah.

I AM calm brother and I posted my evidence. I said that the sources say that he is from Sirah in Yemen. Ibn Sa'ad mentions this in Al-Tabaqaat Al-Kubra. I also mentioned that Al-Hafidh Al-Dhahabi said in his book Seyar A'laam Al-Nubalaa:

"What is most apparent is that Bilal isn't Ethiopian."

Have you pondered on this evidence?

Please do not play games brother. If you want to give a reference, then give it properly and mention the quote in its entirety. Also kindly mention the importance of your ground breaking research into the birth of Bilal(ra). If your beginning on this forum is so horrible, how is the ending going to be?
We have a saying in India, "Khoda Pahaad, nikli Choohiya".
Translation: "We dug up the mountain.......and unearthed a (she)mouse".
Concentrate on the essentials of the Deen instead of staring at your navel in search for an answer to the mysteries of the Universe. By the way, Siyar Alam al Nubala' is not automatically evidence.
Wa salam.
P.S: There are many good ways to make much more than 10 dollars. Don't tout this religion for it.

قال إبن سعد في الطبقات الكبرى:

بلال بن رباح
مولى أبي بكر ويكنى أبا عبد الله وكان من مولدي السراة واسم
أمه حمامة وكانت لبعض بني جمح
Ibn Sa'ad says in his book Al-Tabaqaat Al-Kubra:

"Bilal ibn Rabah, the servant of Abu Bakr, was called Abu Abdellah and he was one of the servants of Sirah (in Yemen) and his mother's name was Hamaama and she was a slave of one from the clan of Bani Jumah (of Quraish)."

قال الحافظ الذهبي:

"الاظهر أن بلالا ليس بحبشي"
Al-Hafidh Al-Dhahabi says in his book Seyar A'laam Al-Nubalaa:

"What is most apparent is that Bilal isn't Ethiopian."

The importance is that the Companions of the Prophet (SAWS) (RAA) should not be called something that they aren't. It is bad manners to do so. If Bilal is from Yemen, he shouldn't be called an Ethiopian. It's disrespectful and a show of bad manners to do so. Don't you agree?

Your Indian saying doesn't apply here.

P.S: There are many good ways to make much more than 10 dollars. Don't tout this religion for it.
This is an example of having bad thoughts (سوء الظن) about your fellow Muslim. I'm your brother in Islam, whether you know me or not, and you shouldn't have bad thoughts about your brother in Islam. It is forbidden to do so. What makes me any different from any other Muslim who sells a book? Is selling books forbidden? Did you tell me that you couldn't afford $10 for the e-book and I refused to send it to you for free - fi sabeel Allah? If you tell me that you can't afford the book, but would really like a copy, I will believe you and NOT call you a liar because I have no reason to believe that you are a liar and I will send you a copy for free - fi sabeel Allah. But please, don't have bad thoughts about me.

It helps to understand that a large number of ethiopians lived in Yemen and hence the large number of sayyids in ethoppia and large number of East-african with yemeni heritage.

My advice is study the seerah it starts with the story of the ethopian king marching to makkah. if you read the seerah its explained that the kingdom of abba

I was going to say basically the same thing since Somalia and that region of Africa is so close to Yemen it's possible that they were in fact Yemenis originally from Africa.

Where is your proof that Bilal (RAA) was an Ethiopian. That's what I'm asking you for.
