It was not 6 it was 9 according to the narration of bukhari. however the question needs to be more specific as to what are you trying to understand, further is your friend a Muslim.
Also please conduct a search to see whether this has been answered already.

brother of faith....

...the earlier post listed a reference from bukhari...do you know what "bukhari" (BU-KHA-REE) means or are passing judgements on the path to paradise based on prior assumptions and biases.

furthermore the criteria for marriage in islam always has been and always will be..adulthood. of course islam, piety etc. those are other factors that need to be considered but the individual must always be an adult in order to get married.

what is adulthood according to the shariah? having the physical state/body to be able to have children if you are a woman, or contribute to the process if you are a man...simple!
I could never follow the teachings of man such as this firstly the teachings/instructions came from GOD, they were not "his teachings" as such.

secondly, may allah grant you the strength and wisdom to realize the fallacy in your statement, and open your heart to the truth so that you may enter jannah among the believers.

this is not the actions of a holy man one fifth of the world's population, who belong the largest faith in the world which two years ago surpassed roman catholicism according to a vatican report, see it differently.

He married her when she was six. The marriage was consummated at 9. Sayyida Ayesha(ra) was to become the carrier of the detailed Prophetic Sunna for this Umma. Which is why she was married to the Prophet(saws) at such a young age, so that she could observe him at close quarters for the maximum amount of time possible.

Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he Consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death). (Bukhari: Book #62, Hadith #64)

Hisham said: I have been informed that 'Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death)." what you know of the Quran (by heart)' (Bukhari : Book #62, Hadith #65)

Salam Aleykum,

mufakhatha is probably something from Khomeini's books.
Slm,

Wouldn't be surprised...but still would like to see an authentic hadeeth where this is mentioned?

In the fatawa posted (http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...03d81524ac1b7e), it says radiallahu anhu after the name of Aisha (radiallahu anha). Please can it be corrected (by Maulana Abu Hajira for example).

the question arises due to an old orientalist trick--applying a specific socio-historical sensibility to a totally different socio-historical context; applying a perception totally different to a reality to judge upon that reality is what is called "bay-adabi"--lack of respect.
