Assalamu alaykum
I have observed some muslim brothers who don't wear skull cap (topi) for salah and outside salah. The decision is up to them. But what hurts me is that when need arises they wear the baseball or cricket cap, with the shade part behind. Like 1. while wearing a helmet. 2. When some one shaves his head (for umrah or haj or due to other reasons). 3. While wearing a turban (amama) (they are aware that it sunnah to wear a cap under the amama) Even Dr. Zakir naik sahib wears a white knitted topi. Other day during nikah ceremony, all the ulema on the stage were wearing caps except the bride groom. If any of brothers on this forum have enquired the reason for this hatred towards conventional (islamic) cap, then can share it here. |

Not wearing skull cap != Hatred of skull cap This is related to Indian society: But what hurts me is that when need arises they wear the baseball or cricket cap, with the shade part behind. There are a few caps, society identifies them as islamic one. So when need arises why the western baseball or cricket cap are preferred over these islamic caps. |

What I don't understand why in the sub-Indian continent it is considered Mukruh not to wear the topi, whilst performing salah and in some Arab countries, for example Egypt, they go to the other extreme and I have heard that some consider it Mukruh to wear the topi in salah. (Allah knows best if the latter is true)

What I don't understand why in the sub-Indian continent it is considered Mukruh not to wear the topi, whilst performing salah. Allah knows best as to whether this is true but in some Arab countries, for example Egypt, they go to the other extreme and I have heard that some consider it Mukruh to wear the topi in salah. It's the sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and of the Sahabah (ra) to wear topi/cover head. Forgive me brother Abdullah, didn't make my question clear (I have reworded it). I meant why is it Makruh not to wear it in one place and Makruh to wear it in another place. In places like Egypt hardly anyone wears a topi.
Also see: http://darulifta-deoband.org/showuse...ll=en&id=32270 Is the second part of this fatwa correct? http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...leeves-Makrooh It sure confuses laymen like me, when we get contradictory answers. Allah knows best. |

Forgive me brother Abdullah, didn't make my question clear (I have reworded it). I meant why is it Makruh not to wear it in one place and Makruh to wear it in another place. In places like Egypt hardly anyone wears a topi. It's clear to me why it may be makrooh not to cover the head during prayers, as it was the Sunnah of the Prophet . I do not know why it would be makrooh to wear them. Keep in mind that just because people do not practice in Egypt and other places doesn't make it a rule in itself. If are aware of any madhhab saying covering the head in salah is makrooh, please share any relevant evidence. Also see: http://darulifta-deoband.org/showuse...ll=en&id=32270 Is the second part of this fatwa correct? Since that is a different topic altogether, we could continue the discussion in the following thread, inshaallaah. http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...leeves-Makrooh It sure confuses laymen like me, when we get contradictory answers. Allah knows best. Contradictory answers (i.e. difference of opinions) are not uncommon in islam, especially in secondary and tertiary issues. Laymen can avoid confusion by either following the more cautious position, or following the scholar he has more regard for. Wallaahu A'lam. |
