You should never buy anything dell related Doctor saheb. Dell are a load of rubbish. Is there any particular reason as to why you want to root it? However for rooting and custom roms, the XDA developer forums are the best, see the following page; Now when it comes to rooting , its much complicated for a nontechnical person like me. I think that the thread you mentioned covers rooting for Dell streak 7 running on Froyo or Gingerbread. Unfortunately i am running a HoneyComb (android 3.2) and rooting dell streak 7 for honeycomb seems to be much more complicated. Its an almost 15 step process http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1393263 Rooting the device seems to be an unavoidable evil. To use all the features of the device , it must be rooted. I have previously rooted two android devices but that was a simple process. I just had to download the "update.zip" file , put it in the SD card and boot the device , upon the restart i had to select "upgrade from SD card" and then select this "update.zip" and it was done with out any problem. In the case of dell streak 7 , i fear that i shall brick it if anything went wrong during this process. I hope your device does not give you such a headache while rooting it. |
