Default QWERTY KEYPAD or TOUCH ??

How many here are comfortable with touch phones? Resistive, Capacitative et al.

And how many think QWERTY phones are dwindling away...

I wish to know if I'm the only person on the forum who has a hard time using touch phones and feels nothing comes close to the normal QWERTY KEYPAD for mailing, messaging, etc. and one who is scared that such phones are not being manufactured like as they were before.

While I'm at it, let me say, the best phones or series of phones are the Nokia E Series, right from the E61, E61i - those were the days, absolute classics, 'phones with character'...did someone say Blackberry? Not quite.

tooooooooooooooouch...!

Yea if you are new to it, it takes some time to get used to the fact the screen doesn't go down like the switch. Especially if you text a lot. But you ll get used to it. But some touch phones have a 'lag' which can be annoying. Anyways, all this excitement last only for 2 weeks, after that its 'just' a phone...

HTC Chacha , more awesome than NOKIA E-Series.

you can't seriously expect aisan folks to buy a mobile branded chacha, can you ?

well unless one is infact a chacha.

try a touch-qwerty hybrid to ease into it. I used motorola flipout.

I have been using blackberry for years. Almost an year back i shifted to androids due to the poor Blackberry OS. Most of the people around me were already using androids. The only thing that i missed was the Blackberry's QWERTY keyboard which will give me a solid feeling while typing. The taping on touch screens never generated that feeling. However , i got adjusted to it after buying a tablet. One connect a manual bluetooth keyboard with it or one can use a split thumb keyboard which makes typing alot easier on touch screens.

you could always turn on the vibrate option in the settings somewhere so that when you press the keys on the keyboard it gives you a solid feeling whilst tyrping.

lol brother. That vibration on click infact annoys me because the vibration is so general and not limited to the place of the key. The QWERT keyboard of blackberry gives a kinda feeling of strength when one types on it because you have a grip over the keys. Its more of a psychological thing. Some of my friends who have used Blackberry's never get accustomed to the pure touch typing mentally. The main reason why Blackberrys are still around is their keypad feature otherwise their OS is poor enough to throw them out of the general public market.

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته و مغفرته

While I love my iPhone, touch can be slow. I suffer from an illness called Obsessive Compulsive Essay Writing and sometimes I can get frustrated when texting/emailing from my iPhone. I am a fast touch screen typer and even then it is too slow compared to a proper QWERTY keyboard. I have had a brainwave recently and when my illness requires I write an essay in reply to a text I type it on my laptop, email it, open it from my iPhone, copy, paste, send, done. Saves me much time.

Thus, I do prefer QWERTY keyboards, although I've never tried one on a phone before so I don't think my vote would count. The miniature keyboard I think might slow down my typing speed similar to a touch but be a tad faster.

Problem with keyboards on phones it leaves little room for the screen, main reason why i would never use QWERTY keyboard on a phone.

Got my new Samsung S3 today, was offered it as an upgrade. otherwise have never had a good phone or a reason to own one, as I have a tablet instead.

There are other apps out there for keyboards as well as swift key 3, there's also Swype, which avoids the need for typing and you just Swipe.
