As salaamu alaykum. What kind did Eid festivities and observances simply take during the time of the Rasul (peace be upon him) and the Salaf? In what ways did the holiday celebrated by them and what particular findings or features did they maintain throughout Eid that created Eid in to an (i.e. "holiday" or "celebration")? I believe since some of our eid festivities and traditions be seemingly incongruent with several of the teachings of Islam generally that knowing the response to this really is essential.
