Default Menstruating Girls and Entering Masjid!
Q) I was once told with a Maulana that although women are menstruating, it's not allowable in order for them to both 1) touch/recite Qur'an, not even one passage or 2) enter a masjid. Nevertheless, recently several people I meet are telling me differently, including people of understanding. For instance, a sheikh has explained that it's ok for the girls to enter the masjid. I'm confident that the Hanafi way of thinking holds that women aren't permitted to enter the masjid, but I was wondering if it's possible to obtain the daleel for this so that I might be able to provide a better description than,"Well, a Maulana explained that this wasn't permissible." Today, everybody else needs proof. Assalamu alaykum In the title of Allah, the Inspirer of reality. It's a decided problem a menstruating women or even a individual in the seminally defiled state is restricted from entering the masjid. Several hadiths express this. To estimate a few: 1. 'A'isha ra applies that the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "I don't make legitimate the masjid for menstruating women or for person who is in a defiled state [junub]. (Sunan Abu Dawud) 2. Umm Salama ra connected that the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam entered the courtyard of the masjid and declared loudly, "The masjid isn't allowed for the menstruating women" and for the defiled. (Tabarani) 3. 'A'isha ra applies that the Prophet Sallallahu alayi wasallam called out of the masjid, "O 'A'isha, hand me the cloth." She informed him that she was menstruating, so he explained the menstruation isn't in her arms [i.e. that she might give the fabric to him. Note: the doorway of her chamber exposed in to the masjid]. (Sahih Muslim) Also when it comes to the prohibition of reciting some of the Qur'an for them, you will find the next hadiths. 1. 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar relates that Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam mentioned, "A menstruating women or even a seminally defiled individual shouldn't read any area of the Qur'an. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Bayhaqi) There's also different hadiths sent by Imam Daraqutni, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, Ibn Maja, Abu Dawud, Ibn Hibban, Hakim and others in this respect (See Nasb al-Raya]. Still another hadith present in the Muwatta of Imam Malik states that "Only an individual in the state-of love must contact the Qur'an." This hadith is sent by a number of other hadith students as-well. 'Allama Zayla'i has mentioned the hadiths regarding these issues completely in his Nasb al-Raya. 1:194-199. Ergo, it's proven that ladies in their intervals are banned from entering the region. Exactly the same relates to people who are in a defiled state and are looking for a ritual bath [ghusl]. Nevertheless, it'd be allowable for such individuals to enter a side area or place within an Islamic Center that's perhaps not considered the particular masjid or sanctified prayer region, for example to go to a dars or pitch. And Allah knows most useful. Wassalam Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf What may be the Shaf'ae & Maliki Opinion on this matter?
