Marifah - sufis of the brelevi/sunnipath ilk.

IslamicAwakening- strange melting pot, with very liberal moderation, which leads to lack of adab. Harris Hammam bashes away at the Hanafis but the others appear to respect deobandis. They don't like 'salafis' (presumably referring to madkhalis) and they definitely don't like asharis/brelevis.

One thing many people including myself respect IA for though however, is that they aren't afraid to discuss Jihad. I remember even this forum once having a sticky banning all talk of jihad, legitimate or otherwise.

Default Muslim forums
Salam Alaikum,

This forum has been of great benefit. I have come across other forums lately through this forum but dont know what our member's perspectives are about those forums. Are most active members in our sunni forum equally active in other forums. IS membership of the other forums worthwhile and beneficial?

The forums I am talking about are

Ummah.com forum
salafitalk.net forum
islamic awakening forum
marifa.net forum

If someone could give a concise overview of these forums and their members ideas, orientations and topics of interest, it would be great

ummah.com is mostly populated by hyped young people, not much grown up conversations, a lot of free mixing

salafitalk.net is probably one of the most negative forums out there...nothing but hate on that forum and people with terrible adab especially towards ulemah

Islamic Awakening..also has a lot of people with bad adab..and hatred for various ulemah...but its not as bad as salafitalk

marifah...not sure about this one

I agree with you Ummah.com is just rubbish

I like Sunni forum where intelligent arguments are always laid bare and regardless of your opinions, there's always respect for each other.

I used to frequent MPACUK forums but they are always quite.

What about orientations of members of Ummah.com and Islamic awakening? Barelwi, deobandi, salafi, sufi....?

ummah is a mix mostly of salafis, deobandis and barelwis...with barelwis being the minority...i don't think there's many sufis on there despite them following deobandi or barelwi ulemah...i think in terms of knowledgeable members it has the least as most of them are quite young

salafitalk is mostly madkhali salafis...the ones that love to label everyone deviant..pretty similar to ahlehadith attitude of indo/pak

islamicawakening is also salafi but its mixed within salafis from different salafi groups

marifah is mostly sufi i think...not sure if they deobandi or barelwi

That's not a fair description. Yes there are threads where there is too much arguing (that's why I avoid looking at such threads), but at the same time there are many beneficial threads and articles on Islamic Awakening.
If one is Athari (not just in Tawhid al-Asma` was Sifat, but also in matters of Iman and Kufr) and Pro-[legitimate-]J!had then it's actually a very nice forum.

As for "hatred for various ulemah": Which 'Ulama`? Most people there respect the truthful 'Ulama`, who don't sell their Din to please the governments. And Deobandi 'Ulama` are also respected there. And most members are against the wannabe-"Salafi"-Fiqh mentality and are pro-Madhahib (but not pro-Taqlid Shakhsi).
Those who are not respected are wannabe-"Sufi" Zanadiqah, who love to play around with the religion and call the people towards hellfire.

salafitalk.net forum
A worthless madkhali forum.

marifa.net forum
A forum which calls the people towards Zandaqah (wal 'iyadhubillah!).

I was on ummah.com for about a week before I was banned forever.

The moderator AbuMubarak started calling me a kufar because I didn't agree with him on some political issues.

He is very racist and hard on reverts; even though he is a revert himself.

Because he had my email address from signing up to the forum.

For several weeks after my banning, he would childishly send me emails with rude and nasty remarks.

He would sent them thru the auto draft system of umma.com so that I couldn't reply back to him to ask him to stop the harassment.

last time i saw it they were slating deobandi ulemah on there...they also slate other "salafi" scholars who they disagree with...some of the members seem to be extremely arrogant and consider themselves above everyone in terms of knowledge...kinda like the salafi versions of Asrar Rashid...wanting to debate everyone for an ego boost

The problem with IA is always with the adab. I have seen posts where people have full on sworn at each other, etc. There are also a couple of takfeeri's on there that kinda ruin a lot of threads (when I say takfeeri, I mean people who say going to a court is kufr, voting is kufr, etc). If you disagree with someone, you'll automatically be accused of being jaahil, etc. There is a lot less of that here. People are harsher to each other in their posts but the 'politics' section is always interesting to read through even if I disagree with some opinions on there. I still think this is the best forum online in terms of moderation and adab, etc.

Note- I do not dislike IA on account of it being salafi, I am talking on a pure adab perspective
