Default How to prevent (or minimise) accidently seeing filth while searching on the internet
Salaamu alaiykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu

I know this is a problem in our generation where pictures of improperly dressed people appear in our searches. Inshallah I will give you three ways in which you can prevent this from happening (if you haven't figured it out already). You will need the latest version of firefox for this. All of these are add ons so no complication. Firefox will handle it. Another benefit is that you can easily turn it off and on when you want.

1) Adblock Plus 2.1.2 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir.../adblock-plus/
This blocks advertisements, which are one of the main sources of seeing things you shouldn't.

2) Image Block 2.1 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ck/?src=search
This is extremely effective in blocking all image search results, which means no images you would accidently see which you didn't want to. Be warned though. It may take time to get used to it.

3) Blocksite 0.7.1.1 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...don/blocksite/
This blocks any sites you don't want to visit. Whenever you come across a site which is a source of bad images, just add it on. It may take time and you might have a list of some thousands but it's worth it in the end. This is pretty good for parental control too.

Enjoy!

Wa iyyakum brother
And I would like to add, having recently discovered this through my experience with the add on, that it blocks the images of those videos that appear on the side when you watch a youtube video (those that they say have a matching of keywords that you typed) (which most likely would have a filthy picture on it). Allahu akbar!! Wa lillahil hamd!!

Is there blocking software for IE, Chrome (as mentioned), Safari, Opera, Maxthon, K-Meleon among others? (I use different browsers for different tasks, sites, and such)

Brilliant. for this.

There's something else you can download which may help. The amount you download from an unlimited source above, and the bandwidth available is totally up to the dedication of the individual.

It's called Taqwa!

There may be such softwares for other web browsers but I think the combination that firefox offers is the best. If you can switch to firefox, I suggest you to do so. If you can't, tell me the browser you can use and I will inshallah in turn search it up for you. Remember: if it benefitted you (or not), it may benefit others. Spread the word and let us stop this ever increasing fahsha. AS another brother said, we can only do so much but if you do not combine it with taqwa it's not going to work. May Allah help us.

assalaamu alaikum W R W B,

OPERA has an option not to display images by default and to display them only if needed on a page by page basis. it does not need add-ons. there is an add-on for FireFOX calle "IMG like Opera" that does the same for firefox.

I think IMG like opera would be useful for those who are more computer literate (excuse the term) as it is definitely more efficient than switching on and off the image block toggle when you need to. Those who are not so familiar with computing terms like "cached images" (me included) can either learn these terminologies and how to use them alongside with "IMGlikeopera" and use this far more efficient image blocker, or just take the route of switching on and off the image block toggle when you do different things (e.g. searching for news on google - turn on image block. Going to sunniforum - turn off image block).
May Allah accept this from us and make it a means for us to minimise our looking at things that are not permitted.
