Your asking this question on a 'Deobandi' forum so you can guess what the answer will be.
Personally I try not to fall into any of the sects but due to one's beliefs one will always be categorised by someone.
One advice I would give myself thou is whatever one sect says about another sect don't believe and don't even believe what a person from that sect says about their own as they often mis-understand or due to emotions do not explain properly.
If you are genuine and serious and you know the basics go ans speak to the Ulama of the other secst to clarify any issues that other sects do not agree with so you know yourself.

A sect is formed when there is a division in aqeedah (belief). Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'a is the one who will attain salvation. Forget Shia they are not even in the ballpark.

The right path is the path who follow quran, sunnah, suhabah , tabeen, tabi tabeen, saleh-salaf...!

Ahle sunnat wal jamaat whether hanafi, shafi, maliki or hanbali,...all madhabs are right but if someone doesnt follow quran or sunnah or suhabah :anhumm: or saleh salaf, in short if one doesnt follow any madhab he/she is deviant...!

ahle quran are munkir of ahadeeth, hence they are deviant
shias are munkir of suhabah they are deviant
barelvi are against the thinking of saleh salaf, they are deviant but still muslims
ahle hadeeth are munkir or ijmaa of suhabah and tabeen hence they are deviant but still muslims
hence hanafis, shafis, malaki, hanbali who really follow their madhab as salaf followed are on the right path...!
as prophet said that the righteous people are among suhabah and those who follow them...!

Right people dont tell u to join their sect rather they tell 'come let us make taaluq with Allah' .....the word sect is the word of fitnah, the word jamaat creates division among ummah, we are ummah, people who tell that one should fill form for joining jamaat are creating fitnah, people who use votes to elect their leaders are creating fitnah, leaders of efforts of deen are chosen on basis of mashwara not votes or election




People who dont talk about sects and dont forbade anyone from joining any so called sect are ahle haqq are the righteous..!

Brother, divisions are natural when someone splinters off and claims that they are the right path. Even during the time of the sahaba , there were the khawarij, who claimed to be the true Muslims and everyone else was a kaafir. It is not just something found in Islam, but it is found in almost every single group that has ever existed, from religions, to political parties, to even sports clubs! People will always claim to be upon the truth, even if they are completely wrong. If we do not know, we should endeavor to gain knowledge of the deen and go from there to see who is actually upon the haq.
