We have many muslims who took part in the Liberation struggle. Many of whom maintain close ties with the current ANC leadership. The president congratulates the muslims of SA when it's Eid and at the beginning of Ramadhaan We have many muslim ANC members appointed to leadership positions within the party. |

Bail Judgement for Kazi Accused Due on Wednesday Cii News | 21 August 2012 Bail judgement for the two accused in the murder of Muhammed Fayaz Kazi has been postponed to Wednesday morning at the Krugerdorp Magistrates Court. 28 year old Roedolf Viviers and 33 year old Zayn van Tonder appeared in the dock today as suspects in the murder of Kazi who died after an alleged beating outside a Chicken Licken outlet in Magaliesburg during the month of Ramadan. The pair appeared briefly as photographers and the media jostled to take their pictures. Viviers was charged with grevious bodily assault and murder whilst Van Tonder was indicted for assault. Members of the defence argued in favour of bail for the accused but were opposed in their application by the State. Investigating Officer in the case, Jannie van Rensburg of the Magaliesburg Detectives Unit also told the court of community anger in the wake of the murder and argued that the community would like the suspects to be kept in custody until the final court proceedings begin. Channel Islam’s Head of News Azhar Vadi, attending the proceedings, said the courtroom was completely packed and the case had drawn attendance from many representatives of mainstream media. “Everybody is sitting on the edge of their seat, almost, waiting for something to happen and for some ruling to come.” Vadi described the presiding Magistrate Reginald Dama as being very meticulous in his questioning. “He really picked out points in both the (arguments of) the defence and the prosecution and was quite fair so far.” A group of South African Communist Party (SACP) members staged an impromptu protest outside the court venue also opposing bail for the accused. They pledged to enlist the support of unions to prevent the accused from being ever employed in their district of operation. The bail judgement for both the accused is scheduled for 11.30am on Wednesday morning. http://www.ciibroadcasting.com/2012/...-on-wednesday/ |

Are Muslims in South Africa allowed or encouraged to keep personal firearms ? How popular is chicken biryani in the Muslim community there ? My theory is that the more a Muslim society eat chicken biryani , the less it can own or shoot weapons !! On Sunday Rapport quoted Trevor Buthelezi, a waiter at a local restaurant, as saying: "A large, white man of over 100kg kicked and hit Kazi and Mahmood for about 20 minutes... A crowd gathered, but everyone was too scared to help. I hope they were not Muslims who did not help. |

Putting your trust in the Police or the government is not always a good idea. In some cases , it works. |

Second man held for 'Muslim beard' killing 12 August | 10:56 ? By SAPA Johannesburg -Both men suspected of beating a Muslim man to death in Magaliesburg have been arrested. One man was arrested in Hartbeespoort, North West province, on Saturday. The second man handed himself to Magaliesburg police on Sunday morning, accompanied by his lawyer, North West premier Thandi Modise said in a statement issued by her office. Both were expected to appear in the Magaliesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday. "We commend our police for the speedy arrest and look up to our courts for the law to take to take its course," Modise said. Muhammad Fayaaz Kazi, 27, from Ventersdorp, and his father's friend Anser Mahmood, were attacked at a Chicken Licken outlet in Magaliesburg on Monday. Mahmood said two white, Afrikaans-speaking men made fun of Kazi's beard and insulted them. Kazi, who understood Afrikaans, confronted the two men and a fight broke out. Both Kazi and his friend were attacked and the two white men fled the scene. Kazi later died in Potchefstroom Hospital. On Sunday Rapport quoted Trevor Buthelezi, a waiter at a local restaurant, as saying: "A large, white man of over 100kg kicked and hit Kazi and Mahmood for about 20 minutes... A crowd gathered, but everyone was too scared to help. "Someone called the police, but before they arrived, a motorist stopped and pulled the man off him (Kazi)." According to Rapport, there were two police officers at the scene, but they refused to help because they said they were off-duty. The killing resulted in an outpouring of condolences, outrage, and calls for the alleged killers to be arrested. The Media Review Network (MRN) on Sunday welcomed news of the arrest. It called on all law enforcement agencies to be especially vigilant in regard to crimes related to racism, religious bigotry, xenophobia, and Islamophobia. "It is unfair and beyond comprehension that the victim of atrocious violence dies at the hands of a bigot for no reason other than being profiled a Muslim," the MRN said. Police were not immediately available to confirm the arrests. - Sapa http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/201...m-man-s-murder |
