Asalama alaikum,
May Allha s.w.a shower you with his blessings. I've being doing a little research to understand why alot of practising brothers have marks of prostration on their forehead. Many scholors have stated the verse in the Quran where is states sign on head is referring to a illuminated face etc. Also with the physical sign on the forehead its stated that happens due to prostrating on a hard surface, sensitive forehead skin or prostrating too hard in sujood. Ok now what baffles me is that i've noticed from all the groups out there alot of Dawat e islami members have got this mark of prostration on their foreheads. Its really strange to say the least. Maybe they pray more regular than others im not so sure but i find it really odd. Im sure all of those who have got that mark can't have sensitive forehead skin. You notice this from the madani channel however one could understand that because in pakistan usually the masjid surface is hard. However how would one explain the ones in UK. Any ideas? |

Asalama alaikum, I am not sure what you are asking; you seem to have answered the question yourself.. that it's due to performing abundant/regular prayers, and also possibly due to the nature of the surface prostrated upon. Wallaahu A'lam. |

As far as I know from reading history alot of kharijites also had prostation marks. Thus it should not be taken to mean much by itself.

Basically what i was trying to say that you notice that mark on alot of dawat islami members rather than members from any other group. If you pray your Sunnah prayers every time (especially the larger number of them as taught by the Hanafis) then it is not surprising when you get the mark of prostration on your head. Likewise if you reduce the number of Sunnah prayers that you perform due to whatever reason a prostration mark can go away again. |

Salaam Aleikum.
Well a mark on forehead i wouldnt say automatically mean the brother or sister is a momin, as obviously they would have to be a practicing believer to evelavate to a certain spiritual level and the mark on the forehead would be an added benefit. A mark could occur simply of ones sensitive skin, and could just pray once in a while. Otheres could genuinly have the mark due to alot of prayers. If you add up the daily fardh prayers (five) plus the nawafil prayers , if someone prayed this everyday , it could potentially result in this sign. Shias have to prostrate on earth which is a much harder surface (as most will pray on turbah) than on the carpet, so in this shia comunity this could be 'normal', as standard. When i prostrate i try to not force my head too much on the surface as i have sensitive skin, to avoid blisters. I have noticed i think on the channel 'madina', that sunni brothers have got the mark too, which is impressing considering i think they would be prostrating their head on the carpet. Mashallah Salaam |
