A brief bio of the Shaykh's contributions, for those unacquainted:
El-Shaarawy had a very widespread popularity which earned him the title of "The preacher of the century."El-Shaarawy was exceptionally talented in explaining the meanings of the holy Quraan. His real talent was best shown when he explained in simple words the meaning behind the most difficult verses of the Qur'an.He was also famous for being the only non-Saudi to give the khutbah, or Islamic speech at Arafat, a mountain of central importance during the Hajj, or the Islamic pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. And he was of course, highly outspoken against the regime. Alhamdulillah Allah gave many of the Egyptian 'Ulama istiqaama on this specific issue. They regularly talk about topics like JHD, Palestine, al-walaa' wal baraa, oppression and injustice in their khutbahs. These topics are largely ignored by many of their Asian counterparts. And for the sunniforumers especially - some people's beards don't grow naturally. So before Shaytan gets to your head about the Shaykh, make sure to cut off any evil thoughts. As Ibn Qayyim (RA) said: "Repel the thought, for if you don’t, it becomes an idea. So repel the idea; for if you don’t it will become a desire. So fight against that (desire), for if you don’t, it will become a determination and a passion. And if you don’t repel that, it will become an action. And if you don’t replace it with its opposite, it will become a constant habit. So at that point, it will be difficult for you to change it.” I am reading some the Shaykh's books (mostly translated by Aisha Bewley) - subhanAllah - the parables he draws make very difficult concepts easy to understand. Rahimahullah. NB: The first video - that's actually a poem! I just realised that the end of the bayts rhyme. |
