Default 7th century mosque found in Bangladesh
In a remote village in northern Bangladesh, an amateur archaeologist has discovered the remains of a mosque believed to be built in the 7th century. Villagers initially stumbled on the site where they found ancient treasures and artefacts of Islamic history, including a stone with Quranic scripture, buried underground. Further investigation into the findings could prove the site to be the earliest mosque built in South Asia.

I'm kind of skeptical of this. It looks in really good shape to be 7th century...also, how is it just standing out there in the open and no one has found it before? Whether the architecture is 7th century is also a question. Some of it looks like concrete.

Still, if it's real, then it's amazing. Although it's too bad that the corrupt authorities in Bangladesh will probably confiscate most of the artifacts and do God knows what with them.

From what I understood, the remains were found while the villagers were digging to build the mosque we see standing there now. Perhaps there were some remnants of old buildings there but that wasn't clear to me.

What is absolutely amazing is how the villagers decided to build exactly where another mosque (possibly one of the first in the region) used to stand - Subhan'Allah!

Bismillah
As a Bangali, I do not trust most people and more so if they are educated. We have these types of people (freshies) in UK running various scams.. there are cases where these freshies pretend to be imam when they can't even speak arabic or even qualified as imam. The trick many unsuspecting muslims (older generation).. These people often are the lowest of low and have no quarms abusing the deen of Allah. I for one thinks there has to be morotorium of immigrant Bangladeshis here in UK. Those staying here should only be given resident visa and not citizenship. these people have caused a lot of problem for everyone and includes many of the ills of the community. These freshies have no problem setting up off licence!!
I love bangladesh and its simple people from rural areas but they are often the victims of the socalled land owners and chairmen. They can get away with murder etc... These are Jalim personified. Just like rest of indo pak. rural areas and its people are at the mercy of thugs.
