Bismillah
I think br. Revert being an american has a strange way of communicating a point and can come across somewhat insensitive!! This is a cultural thing.. American are known for being loud and brash in general, partly because of brainwashing that goes on from a young age - muslim and non muslims makes no difference. The Britisher (at least) the educated ones are tend to be somewhat restrained.

Islam teaches us to be modest and being restrained in speech is part of modesty as well. May Allah make us wise and grant us clarity of thought.
Allahualam

Its not a bad death...they died when attempting to worship Allah...insha-Allah they are in the mercy and protection of Allah

I am not sure if being able to know what goes on thousands of miles away instantly is good for humans...we can end up filling our brains with lots and lots of useless information without actually changing ourselves or our lives for the better.

Careful brother anyone might think you are criticising Allah for choosing to take the believers in a 'bad way'.
Only you would think that towards me.

Allah (swt) takes you when and how he wills. Insha'Allah

My only contention was your silly statement that, "It wasn't a bad death".

Many years ago I worked as an electrician in an industrial factory. I have seen people get shocked and badly burned by voltage that was far less than the massive amount of energy contained in a lighting bolt.

So no, getting zapped by a lighting strike is not a pleasant or easy death as you so callously claimed.

Relax, guys. I think it was just a simple misunderstanding.

And there are other categories mentioned elsewhere, like a woman who dies in childbirth.

So while electrocution is in no way pleasant, if it's the means for martyrdom, then it's a good death nevertheless. You can't have a "painless" death and be a shaheed, although the shaheed feels the pain of his martyrdom to be like a bee sting.
Thanks for the clarification post brother.

The reason why these are also categorised as shaheeds can be understood by the Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah that Allah's Messenger (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) asked: "Who do you consider to be a martyr?" They said: "O Allah's Prophet, he who is killed fighting for the cause of Allah." The Prophet (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "(If this is the definition of a martyr) then very few in my Ummah will be martyrs!” They asked: "Who else are they, O Allah's Messenger?" He said: "He who is killed fighting for Allah's cause is a martyr, he who dies in the cause of Allah is a martyr, he who dies in an epidemic is a martyr, he who dies from a stomach disease is a martyr, and the one who dies of drowning is (also) a martyr." (Muslim, no: 891) And there are other categories mentioned elsewhere, like a woman who dies in childbirth.

So while electrocution is in no way pleasant, if it's the means for martyrdom, then it's a good death nevertheless. You can't have a "painless" death and be a shaheed, although the shaheed feels the pain of his martyrdom to be like a bee sting.

Default Lightning strike kills 13 in Bangladesh mosque
Dhaka, Bangladesh (CNN) -- At least 13 people were killed and 20 wounded when lightning struck a makeshift mosque in a remote village in northeast Bangladesh on Friday, police said.
The lightning strike occurred as people gathered for a special evening prayer known as taraweeh that is conducted during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

"Multiple lightning strikes occurred during a storm when nearly 35 people gathered at a house in the village of Saraswati where they turned a tin roof shed into a makeshift mosque for the month of Ramadan as a regular mosque was far away," Dharmapasha police chief Bayes Alam told CNN.

"As boats were the only mode of transport to go out of the village, it took several hours to take the critically wounded people to the hospital," said Akm Mezanul Haque, the officer-in-charge of the Modhyanagar police station, who joined the rescue operation.
Of the 13 killed by the lightning strike, Mohammad Shahabuddin, the imam, and two others died at the mosque, Alam said. Ten others were declared dead at a Dharmapasha area hospital, he said.

We wonder why the ummah is in such peril. When a tragic event such as this is turned into a quarrel. Clearly brother Abu Zakir wasn't commenting on the caustic manner of which they met their demise, but on the merit of virtue at the time of their deaths. In the Masjid, during Salah and kneeling in front of Allah

Yes, electrocution is such a pleasant way to go........
Careful brother anyone might think you are criticising Allah for choosing to take the believers in a 'bad way'. Some Muslims in the path of Allah had all their limbs chopped off before they died and they considered themselves privileged to die in such a way. These people were worshipping Allah when they died that is a good death. They did not die whilst doing something un-Islamic which would have been terrible.
