One thing is for sure, as much as I often criticise the Arabs and Saudis in particular, the fact that they dared to question the authority itself was a courageousfeat. These people have suffered for too long and will no longer tolerate ill treatment from their government. Unlike many British Muslims, the Arabs seem to understand how a key role in democracy and political participation will equate to their equality and justice.
We as Muslims in the West should take a great lesson from these people who held the pro-democracy demonstrations in Egypt to oust Hosni Mubarak following his lengthy iron rod grip of power and the 30-day rallies in Tunisia which toppled President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. These people have shown great courage, strength, honour and dignity in fighting for their rights. To those who have stood up and achieved the unachievable, we salute you. We are the A Team, the Khaild Bin Waleeds, the Salahuddins, the Omar Mukhtars, the Malcolm Xs of our era. Live up to your name, live up to your legacy, be the heroes of Islam today. I never understand why Muslim pressure groups in the west are not as strong as Israeli (AIPAC etc) France introduced Burqa nothing came out of it, Spains wants to ban Quran no pressure group came out against it. Just a thought. wasalaam |
