![]() Islam rests on five pillars—rituals that Muslims are required to perform. Although a large majority in most of the 39 countries surveyed by the Pew Research Centre say that religion is very important in their lives, the practice of these rituals is uneven. The haj (not shown in this table) is the least practised: only about 9% have been to Mecca. But it is also the most complex and costly. |

I'm surprised SE Asia (where I live) is said to have very high observance, higher than Middle East and North Africa, in prayer, mosque attendance, zakat and fasting. We even beat South Asia in everything except mosque attendance? How odd. :/
Sub Saharan Africa has the highest mosque attendance? Not Middle East? |

Be aware of this report.
Here it is the full report. http://www.pewforum.org/Muslim/the-w...e-summary.aspx If you read it, you'll notice very strange stuff. For example, only in Sub-Saharian Africa was asked if people believe Qur'an to be the word of God. Very surprisingly, only 77% is mentioned to reply in the affirmative. How can a Muslim not believe the Holy Qur'an to be the word of God? But, if you read the sample size, you'll realize that a huge portion of NON-MUSLIMS (in countries as Tanzania and Uganda, almost 70%; In Cameroon, just the 16% of the sample were Muslims!!) was counted in the sample: ![]() |
