Starts talking about his personal view at 3:00. On his reply to Sania Mirza - the Muslim Indian tennis player who wears short skirts during matches he says at least she is said to pray 5 times a day. This is better than some of the Pakistani cricket team who spend all day playing cricket and miss the prayers. And the "fools" watching the game (live or on TV) have a tendency to delay or miss their prayers too. Basically disliking cricket as compared to shorter games like football because you can easily be absorbed in the match and miss your salaah? He dislikes cricket further because of the concept of "night cricket" in Ramadhan in the Indian subcontinent when people should be doing ibadah instead! |

http://peacetvondish.wordpress.com/2...dr-zakir-naik/ ![]() I happen to follow the opinion that defines 'waste' in fiqh to be that that results in haram. Hence, watching TV or posting online or watching a cricket match or even shopping is a 'waste' when it directly leads to one committing haram, such as missing salaat. 'Waste' = haram action. And Allah knows best. And that being said, a short game of cricket on a weekend morning which gathers Muslims together in good/halal sporting activity isn't necessarily or inheritly a waste. It can be an occasion for exemplary Islamic conduct, brotherhood and teambuilding. |
