 Protecting biodiversity
Pesticides are an important part of increasing food production significantly. The ability to improve agricultural yields means farmers can produce more food to meet current needs without expanding their land base. This in turn protects biodiversity. As much as wildlife habitat, forests, wetlands and grasslands, agricultural production are left untouched, the better.
In Canada, we have to protect a good record of using technology to its full biodiversity potential. Canada would be required to convert 35 million acres of farmland in the same production, it is not generated in this moment.
