Congrats, Sari!

I find the women's gyms are much less intimidating. Usually, the after work hour is the busiest time.

The first gym I ever went was co-ed (that's all they had then), but they did have a separate, women's room. Still, it was obvious that some guys were there to check out the girls.

I liked taking the classes at the gym. I can't join one now, because of the kids, but I miss it.

Back when I was in grad school I went to the gym to do weights and it was only coed. What crakced me up more than the guys checking out the girls were the girls wearing "heavy" make-up to work out. We're talking eye shadow, lipstick, etc. and of course the obligatory spandex.

Oh brother!

Yeah I could imagine that would be hard too..

I think you guys cop a raw deal.. mind you.. if you had a mens only gym you probably wouldn't have to worry about the superficial guys.. they would still be going to the regular gym to perve on the girls lol

But I do know what you mean.. my husband is quite thing.. and I can't imagine him ever plucking up the courage to go into a gym..!

I think its just as hard for us guys, we have to go into the lifting room and see these monsters benching unholy amounts and all of a sudden we feel like we have string bean arms. Even if most of them are nice and willing to help that thought is what keeps me away from gyms. :P

hehe thanks guys!

I am going to go at about 11am today

Apparently it is the quiet time of the day... and the other thing is it is a ladies gym so I don't need to be paranoid about anyone thinking badly of me (and if they do then I don't care anyway! lol)..

I know some of my male friends who go to the gym only go to check out the girls (ok well they maybe go to get fit too.. but they sure talk about the aerobics girls a lot afterwards - and like to make sure they go when the aerobics classed are on etc).. so this is why i joined the ladies gym!

Less chance of guys saying something nasty :P

I agree with you Author Mjollnir10. I'm not setting foot in a gym until I'm under 300 pounds and can at least bench 250 pounds. Otherwise I just feel puny. (as unhealthy as that might sound.)
