Since I run outside, I do not use a radio. It's very dangerous as it makes you unaware of your surroundings.

On the treadmill, I have problems, because I can't really run to the beat. I just watch tv

I remember back in my old aerobics classes, tho. I used to love the compilations they'd come up with.

I watched Depeche Mode's "Live From Paris" DVD this morning while exercising.

Anything loud!

I actually like Shania Twain for exercising!! Not a big fan normally, but the music has a good beat. Steve Miller too!

I've got a special work-out mix on my mp3 player..I also use it when I run. It's a nice tool for helping me keep pace

Enigma- Eyes of Truth
Enigma- Sadness Club dance mix
Filter- Piture
Mudvayne- not falling
Nerosis- Beneath the surface
Red hot chili peppers- Can't Stop

Mp3 players are nice..I've got a timex tmx2..it's about the size of a watch...it eats batteries like a pig though

Been thinking about getting an MP3 player for just this purpose...

To this day I think the two songs that I most associate with working out (and more specifically running) are both by Devo...Snowball and Whip It.

Probalby because timing wise, they came on at the point in my run where I had to climb a big hill....

Well, those and the Steve Miller song about "time keeps on slipping into the future"

I use both full CD's and my owned burned mixes. I actually prefer the mixes because I don't get so bored and it allows me to adjust speed and intensity with the beat as well as with the workout. I typically stick with hip hop type music.but I also like rock. Anything from Outkast to Linkin Park,, and then back again.. I have one cd that has Pink, Eminem, barbie girl,, and all the way to big bad voodoo daddies,, and so many more, but it is actually my favorite.. Plus, when you burn your own, you can get so many MORE SONGS on a single CD that I don't have to worry about listening to the same thing over and over again.

Hey Everyone! Thanks for the responses! It's so cool how we are so diverse! thumb 8) :P

Evrray - You're on the right path with compilations! You're right -- why not put your favorites on one cd?!!! That makes a lot of sense!

JJ - I love the Stevie M too! Havn't really listened to Shania but I'm visiting my country-loving inlaws next week and I think I will give it a go!

FrogAttack - Depeche Mode is so brilliantly 80s! Love it!

PattyC - I guess I live life on the edge listening to music while running. In reality I jog down to my local running/bike path (it's an old RR track converted into a running/bike path) so if anything goes wrong it will be some psycho bicyclist slamming into me. Anyways, way to go on the TV idea!

Mjollnir10 - Love the metal edge you have! I think that rockin' music almost gives you an edge...I mean, how could you ever slow down listening to Danzig or Metallica?

BlissPirate - Love the Devo idea! Hey, don't mean to but in on your plan to buy an mp3 player but have you thought of a minidisc player? I looooovvvvveee minidisc players and this April (in the US), Sony is coming out with a new HiMD player/recorder that supports 1gb discs. The brilliant thing about minidisc is that you record and re-record music on these small magneto optical discs so you never have to worry about downloading, erasing, and downloading new music like you have to do on a hardrive or flash player. You just simply have a collection of discs that you insert into your player as you fancy. And the other good news is that HiMD is going to support a lossless format which supports ATRAC, MP3, WMA, and WAV formats! Please check out this fantastic minidisc forum at: http://www.t-station.net/forum/index.php?s=

Thanks all for your input! I forgot to add that I am also sooooooo into working out to Ben Harper! He's awesome! My current favorite musician!

Go Team Audio Workout!

Default Favorite workout music!
Hey all! I walk/jog and love to listen to Natalie Merchant! I'm a few years late getting into her music but I'm on a roll now in Merchant town! She's got the mellow-pop-great-rhythm-and-vocals thing going for her. It's a good beat to do excercize to. The two cds that I have are titled "Ophelia" and "Tigerlily." Both are excellent and highly recommended!

Sooooo, please list your favorite workout music! Full cds or your own compilations. Thanks for sharing!
