I know how you feel. Since you have put so much effort into being fit, think about an alternate way to keep fit while you heal. Consider light weights, no-impact aerobics that keep your muscles toned and your lungs working for you. I hope you can heal up quickly. I made the mistake, when I got hurt a few years ago, of giving up and not keeping up the muscle tone. But there are ways to do it. Don't give up!
Good Luck! ![]() |

Well, I got the bad news today at the orthopedic doctor. Diagnosis: TORN HAMSTRING. Several weeks to months of recovery time will be needed and lots of suffering. There isn't anything to do except let time heal it. Along with plenty of Ibuprofen and muscle relaxers when needed I will survive. I will do upper body exercises in the mean time. It is so upsetting, I feel like I will have to start all over again after I'm healed enough.
Thanks for your support. susie |

Sorry you've had such a rough time. You will get through it without losing much muscle. That's the great thing about this diet. I've also lost about 20 pounds over the same period and so many more inches than would seem possible with this weight loss. I've also had repetitive major surgery 6 years ago had wounds open for 3 month and could not move around much for 6 month. People loaned me some exercise tapes by an older yoga instruction that were really good. Exercises that you could do sitting down (like weights for arms etc.). I don't remember the names but they are probably findable by WEB search.
Hope you're feeling better soon. |

Going to an orthopedic doctor in the morning. I am praying my hamstring is just a bad stain/pull and not "torn". I mainly need to get a few questions answered-I am not sure if I am supposed to try and work it out or rest it.....I hope I can start working out soon. I already feel heavy!!!
Just psychological of course. Thanks again, Susie |

Have been on Atkins for 2 1/2 months and lost 25 lbs to date. Started exercising about the same time. Have been going to the gym twice daily on weekdays and once on the weekend. I do mostly cardio exercises on treadmill, stepper, eliptical crosstrainer (burn 300 cal in 20 mins on this machine). BUT, yesterday I played in a fund raiser softball tournament for some friends of ours who were in a bad accident. My second time at bat is when this nightmare began. I was running to first base and WHAM! I felt something pop in the backside of my thigh and then I couldn't walk after that. Went to the ER in extreme pain-told I have a hamstring pull and I may have even torn the hamstring. I am scared that now I will lose my hard earned muscle and regain all the inches I lost. I am very upset and having a hard time. They tell me the recovery is not a fast one with this type of injury. I have been athletic my whole life and I have never injured myself in this manner before. HELP!!!!!!
