Yup, it's normal for most people...

Have him take some Benadryl it will help with the swelling and any itching he has.

I was swarmed while cutting branches last year. I think I might have even started a thread about it. In any event I got nailed at least 20 times and t'was from head to toe. It / they hurt like hell for a day or so. The swelling and redness lasted a couple of days so what you describe is normal. If he was to get a bad reaction to the sting it should of happened withing the first 1/2 hour or so.

this is the insect that flew in my bra last summer and stung my tit - don't know if yall remember that story.

It hurt like a mother fucker. and yes benadryl and then some kind of anti itch cream - aveeno cream for poison ivy may work awesome

it took three days for the swelling to go down and for it not to be so tender - then it took weeks for the thing to heal.

make sure it doesn't get inected!

Oral Benadryl will help with the reaction. Several things will help with the irritation if done immediately after removing the stinger if one was left. Wet tobacco helps, or meat tenderizer made into a paste, or ammonia.

I was once stung by one of those while taking a nap outside. I was half asleep and it felt like someone stabbed me on the hand.

Luckily, the pain lasts for about 8 hours and then goes away. You barely notice it after then.
