I posted this question over on the rogue thread but got no bites!
I know this is OFF PROTOCOL (!) ... but... I want to understand mini-steak days and high protein days in P2 (not P3). I've been searching the forum for a while and have found a few different approaches but I want to get clear. On a P2 high protein day you eat only protein and absolutely NO vegetables, no lettuce, no onions, no chard, etc.? (No fruit, of course.) And do you stay within the 500 calorie restriction? On the P2 double protein days what is the restriction on calories and amount of protein? Is it something like, you do 200 grams of chicken for lunch, then 200 scallops for dinner? I've read about people doing a few different amounts of steak during the P2 mini steak day. (I never did a steak day on P3.) It looks like some people are doing about 3.5 oz of steak (200g, right?) total for the day which amounts to about 500 calories. I also saw that Beth eats up to 8 oz. which looks like a double-protein mini-steak day! And, you still do the apple or tomato with it? Thanks in advance. |

after 15 days of losing and gaining and losing the same 2 to 3 lbs, I did what I called a mini-steak day. I had coffee in the morning (no half and half because it's P2), skipped lunch and had an 8 oz (raw weight) lean sirloin steak with all visible fat removed, broiled so there's no added fats/oils and with no salt used to season it. Along with it I had 175 g of roma tomatoes chopped up in 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar. The calorie total for the day was 350 calories. It dropped me down 2.6 lbs which was the most I'd lost in one day since the first week of that round.
Also in the later part of this long round I found my body seemed to react better with more protein. I was not eating fruit most days. I would increase my protein to 150 g or 200 g but always stay under 500 calories total for the day. |

I want to understand mini-steak days and high protein days in P2 (not P3). there are no rules for these, because they are off protocol- just things people have experimented with. i think the norm, if there is one, is to not eat all day and then eat your 3.5 oz of steak with an apple or tomato. for an all protein day you'd only eat meat- the amount is up to you.

No....there's nothing set in stone. Some people do it as a skip lunch and have a regular P2 dinner with 3.5 oz of steak and tomato or apple - which is what Margie mentioned. Because the steak is so lean and I'm a typeO blood time that reacts well to beef and knew I had good losses on true P3 steak days, I decided to try my own thing to try to break my yo-yo'g.
What worked for me may not necessarily work for someone else. |

Mgsondance and Beth, you two are an inspiration to me! Diane |

HI ladies! this is such a great question tarte-tatin! I was wondering the same thing....I am now on round 5 and although I have been doing this a while there are still things that I want to get advise on. I do know it is off "orginal protocal" but I have stalled out and it is day 24 of P2. I am hoping to get to my goal before I stop this round...but so far have only lost 14.40#, which okay, I am happy to do this, but frustrated that I am not loosing, really for the last week. So I have been contemplating doing either a mini steak day or an all protien day and see if that can kick start my weight loss again. I have 14# to go to get to my goal! Anyways, I was wondering, on these days do you still drink the same amount as a normal day 64+ oz of water? (or any liquids? -that are allowed?) Or is it like an apple day that you on drink a sip to get meds down or parched? Thanks Ladies, in advance! I value your opioin! For my steak days, I drink around 10 glasses of water and I eat, early in the evening, a 10-14oz rib-eye. I do trim most of the fat off but I leave some on for flavor. But I don't eat the fat once its cooked. I season it with braggs amino acids, and montreal steak seasoning (it has oil, so its off protocol) and grill it. I usually eat it on a bed of lettuce and half a tomato. Sometimes I drizzle lemon juice on top and sometimes just steak drippings. About an hour or more later I'll eat a baked apple. I've lost about a pound each time. Lately I've taken to drinking Smooth Move laxative tea in the evening of my steak days. I don't want all that meat just sitting inside. I didn't drink less water on steak days by design, it just ended up happening that way. So once I noticed that, now I try to stick with what works. I chart everything I eat/drink so I know what affects me and how. I hope this helps somehow. Really the best way is to look at everything you've read and try it out and document what works for you. What works for someone else won't necessarily work for you. |

Vixxen13, thanks for sharing your steak day success secret... I had been on a 4 day stall on a previous set weight I carried for 2 years. 162 is my magical body set weight... exercise, calorie counting, I just couldn't ever break it. So I was dreading when I hit that on my hcg round. Well, I flew through 162. Turns out 160 was my "set weight." Since last weekend, I had stalled out there. So after 4 days, I decided to hit the forum and see what my option were. I went with Vixxen's method, and IT WORKED! I'm down 2.6 lbs this morning, and am finally in the 150's! 158.6 to be exact, WOO HOO!

I'm in P2 & yesterday I tried just protein (chicken) for lunch & then a steak & tomato for dinner. But I have noticed a difference if I have only steak for the protein that day. |
