Default Why does HCG make you sleep?
Hi folks! So, I've got a question that is very near and dear to my heart, and that is, do you know exactly WHY HCG causes people to sleep better? I mean, does it increase something or regulate something else? Like, I know that HCG itself is not a sex hormone, but does it increase estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone? Does it help to regulate blood sugar levels? I ask because I am an inveterate insomniac and this last month on HCG has been a dream *literally* because I have been sleeping sooo well. Thing is I am terrified to go off of it because every time I do my skip day I don't sleep. Doesn't make sense, I know, 'cause there is still HCG in my system - although not as much, of course - but thats what happens. So I'm wondering if anyone knows if HCG does anything that enhances sleep that I could could do after I stop taking it (i.e. take hormones or something). Of course I will do my own research, but if anyone has any ideas or could point me in the direction of any web sites or information I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Normally you don't sleep as well on hcg. You're having an effect that not as many have. LOL It does elevate your hormones including your thyroid so I'd start there with some testing. I have to take extra melatonin when on hcg.

I never noticed any difference while doing the protocol. I sleep well regardless. But when I was pregnant each time, I had nightmares and didn't sleep too well.

I sleep better, but I sleep less. Since starting HCG, I have been able to let go of my audiobook headphone addiction at night. I can fall asleep without my mind racing.

I do wake up six hours later, no matter what I try. Even if I go to my audiobook headphones, I can't drift off to the story like I used to.

So, less sleep, but deeper and better quality.

Thanks Grammy! I'll totally get my hormones tested now and when I go off the HCG, aside from my thyroid I've been wondering about them anyway.

I sleep great. I dont have vivid dreams. I also dont get cold at all either. I love my sleep on HCG...I slept the same way while pregnant except I may have had a few vivid dreams then...

It is a deeper and restful sleep for me, now if the bladder would cooperate.

I sleep better but have bad dreams. Hcg does raise testosterone levels, not sure about the others you asked about.

On HCG 6 hrs is the average sleep I need. I feel REALY good with 6hrs. Off HCG I generally feel good with 8 hrs. I don't have bad or vivid dreams either.

Reviving this thread...

I started R3 injections on Saturday, Jan 7, and have slept very well every night since then. Normally, I wake up 3-5 x per night. Does not make for recuperative sleep.

With the HCG in my system I get a more restful deeper sleep and have even seen an increase in dreaming. I still wake up periodically but quickly fall asleep again. Loving how much my sleep has improved...dreading the end of the round in February.

I take melatonin regularly to help with sleep when not on HCG. Haven't needed it since the start of this round.
