A healthy breakfast helps you lose weight, especially if it includes cereal, fruits and nonfat milk. High fiber breakfast also helps reduce risk of heart diseases and diabetes. Studies also showed that people lost and maintained weight loss for up to 30 lbs for more than a year, therefore, eating breakfast keeps people slimmer.
If you skip breakfast, your metabolism slows down and your blood sugar drops. As a result, you get hungry while could lead to unhealthy snacking (junk foods and sweets) or eat larger portions during lunch or dinner. If you eat breakfast, it's less likely for you to overeat or go on impulse snacking. Eating breakfast reduces risk of obesity and insulin resistance syndrome by 35-50 percent so make sure to always have a healthy breakfast such as whole grains, which is the best choice for weight loss. Here are some quick and nutritious whole grain breakfast choices: - Milk and whole grain cereal - Instant oatmeal and milk - Peanut butter spread on whole wheat toast - Cheese and whole grain crackers Source: Meals Matter |

I totally agree with this post. Some people skip breakfast and believed it will help with their weight loss. That is not true at all. If you are in a hurry, you can grab a whole wheat toast before you head to the door. Don't eat power bars as a replacement for breakfast. They contain calories just as much as candy bars.

Never skip breakfast. People who skip breakfast are more likely to take up smoking or drinking, less likely to exercise, and more likely to follow fad diets or express concerns about body weight. Common reasons cited for skipping were lack of time, lack of hunger, or dieting.
Bad news. Sure, it would seem to make sense that skipping breakfast means eating fewer calories, which means weighing less. But it doesn’t work that way. Consider: People who eat breakfast tend to have higher total calorie intakes throughout the day, but they also get significantly more fiber, calcium, and other micronutrients than skippers do. Breakfast eaters also tended to consume less soda and French fries and more fruits, vegetables, and milk. Breakfast eaters were approximately 30 percent less likely to be overweight or obese. (Think about that people who eat breakfast eat more food, but weigh less!) Cheers! |

For me eating a 'good' breakfast just makes room for an even "better" lunch. I think this eat breakfast thing is just another fad that will quickly fizzle out like the rest. I have to disagree with abel.adley. I don't think it's a fad, it's a given if you want to lose weight and have a healthy lifestyle.
