Hey all,
Just wanted to say I am finding this forum very helpful. I do have a question regarding Dr Atkins carb counter book. The carb counts listed, are they adjusted for the fiber content. Example romaine lettuce 1c 1.9 carbo grams is it really 1.9 or can it be adjusted by subtracting the fiber content??? Rich |

Based on the numbers you give, I'd assume that's total carbs... and you should deduct fiber for net grams. 1 cup of romaine lettuce will have a lot less than 1.9 ng.
The list on the atkins' site has carb counts. It might be easier to use that, especially if you're doing Induction. There's not a "book's worth" of foods you can eat. LOL The list gives net carbs, too, so you don't have to figure it out. I live by the KISS principle. Tril |

Just be sure to get the 12 to 15 net carbs from veggies every day. Less is not better when it comes to veggie carbs. Spread them out over the day so you're not eating 15ng at once and causing and insulin spike. The rest of the carbs can go toward things like cheese, cream, splenda sweetened items, carbs in sausage/bacon, etc.
Hope this helps. |

I'm going to stick to meat and veggies for the induction phase. I do plan on staying on induction until I lose 50% of what I need to llose. I am a person who can eat whatever is around for breakfast doesn't have to be beakfast food. This morning I'll have a couple eggs and some hamburg left over from yesterday. I'll also put out some radishs and cauliflower to get some carbs. I like this WOE I feel much better.
