I saw this thread on another site and found it interesting. So the question is if you had only 20 bucks to buy food for the week what would you buy?
Lots of chicken and vegi's with a few extra's. My thinking is that if I ran out of chicken I would still have plenty of eggs. 2 X 18 Count Eggs - 4.00 5 lbs Chicken Thighs @ 1.29 lb - 6.45 1 Bottle Hot sauce - 1.00 1 Bottle Ranch - 1.49 1 Head Lettuce - .99 1/4 Pound of Baby Spinach from Salad Bar - 1.50 1 bag frozen broccoli - .99 1 bag frozen cauliflower - .99 1 16 count pkg Kraft Deluxe American Cheese slices - 2.49 Total: 19.90 |

lots of jr bacon cheesebugers and salads from wendy's
seriously though, it would probably be alot of chicken, eggs and tuna. As far as a veggie, kale would probably be a good choice. Its fairly cheap and has a ton of nutritional value and fiber. I probably wouldn't waste money on something like iceburg lettuce. |

$20 for the week? Let's see...
Eggs (mine are $1.49 a dozen, so I'd get two dozen) - $3 Cream - $1.50 Chicken (leg quarters are $.49 a pd this week, so I'd get those) - $4/8# Beef... whatever was on sale or discounted for expiration Pork... ditto Tuna - 2 cans $3 Cheese... 8 oz. whatever real cheese was on sale/cheapest Diet soda - 4/$1 store brand Veggies... hit the farm stands for 4/$1 cukes, zucchini, summer squash, greens and then, if I have any leftover $ I'd get store veggies on sale or frozen. |
