I've never heard of Splenda causing constipation before... and I've been reading forums for a looooong time. Usually it's caused by other things... like not enough water, too much fiber supplements, not enough full body exercise (like walking), and too much cheese. To avoid constipation I drink at least 64 oz of water a day, I walk every day, I limit my cheese to about an ounce a day and I don't take fiber supplements (or eat flax, etc). IF I feel slightly "irregular" I solve it with two cups of coffee back to back, consumed as fast as possible. Of course, the best thing is to prevent it... but if you're suffering, take a laxative and then work at preventing it from happening again.
Of course, you could always eat some sf chocolates... that stuff will clean anyone out. LOL Tril |

Sunshine,
Probably not enough water and exercise. I tend to the same problem, but for me it has been chronic (worse on Atkins) ever since I was really little which was a REALLY long time ago!! Be sure and "take care of business" at the first signal and don't put it off ... it gets worse and then your weight will go up. A whole lot of us experience that on Atkins because before (in an attempt to eat like the food pyramid) we were pushing whole grain bread, etc. and it's hard to get the fiber needed unless you really concentrate on the veggies. I'm one to tolerate flax well (I make flax crackers), BUT drink the water or it has the opposite effect!! Some extra fiber would help...the book says syllium husks but I have never tried them. I HATE gloppy Metamusil type powders in fluid. Once I added it to orange soda and I had an erupting volcano of foamy mess all over the counter!! I hope things work out!! (bad pun) Toni |
