Default New to this
Hi , I just joined the group today. I am from the UK.

I will be starting atkins next week. As I have a friends 30th Birthday party to go too where plenty of booze will be consumed, i understand on the induction, booze is not allowed. so i think it is for the best to start monday the 18th.

I just weighed myself today i am currently 195lb. Ideally i would like to get to 126lbs I have 69 to loose.
I am 5"2

I have done the atkins before a very long time ago. I dont remember how to do it.
so i am going to have a good read thru posts to get plenty of idea's. any advice will be greatfully recived xxxx

Hello and welcome!

The best advice I can give you right now is to buy or borrow "Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution" and read it cover to cover. Good ideas are not enough, you really need a solid knowledge base to navigate this diet.

Seriously, invest a bit of reading now and it will save you lots and lots of dilemmas later.

Good luck!
Hi, I had a book. haha, I loan it to a friend. I will get it back this evening/tomorrow.
I will give myself plenty time to prepare. The last time i did atkins i didnt loose very much weight. I was on the pill / drank coffee/ diet coke/ helmans mayonaise.
I think my body reacts to these and stalls my weight loss. I remeber the book saying no aspartimine. I belive diet coke and subsitute sugars like splenda have aspartimine in them. I will have to totally cut these items above out if i wish to sucseed. I will miss the cups of coffee tho.

Hi all ...
Well I am on Day 5 of the induction. The head ache that I had on days 123&4 have now calmed down... Thank God!

Going cold turkey on tea and coffee has been a struggle as I missed my morning cuppa!

I have now found decaf tea and coffee , with soya milk or cream ! Lush !
Morning tea is back on !

Enjoying foods cooked in butter and feel guilty about the clotted cream in my decaf coffee ( it just doesnt feel right ) Ha Har

No hungar pangs or cravings ! fantastic!
and to top it off i have lost 3lbs so far ...

Energy levels are back to normal as i say days 123&4 i have been feeling sluggish.

Overall feeling good about atkins. Weigh in on monday.

Hope everyone else is having a good week xx

I switched from Heavy Cream back to Half-N-Half because I thought the Heavy Cream was causing me to gain. Then gained more on Half-N-Half then I ever did with the heavy cream so I switched back. Don't feel guilty any more.

I know what you mean about the killer headaches. Been there.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I've lost 22 pounds this go around (since 8/24) but it was probably 2 years ago that I did this the first time. It is much easier to manage the cravings with the protein then any other diet.

I feel pretty good about this, although I got to admit, I do not lose weight as fast as I did when I was younger.

Was going good until yesterday. Down 27.5 total. But gained 1.5 back. That's okay. Pretty happy so far. Just trying to keep to the plan the next couple days, no cheats at all. 8)

That halloween candy is calling me but I haven't caved.
