The Senior Military Council in Egypt has announced that it will oversee all parliament activity vis-à-vis the draft of a new constitution to prevent radical Islamists from taking over the process.

“We are in the early stages of democracy,” explained Council Member Mukhtar Mullah. “The parliament does not represent the entire public.” In a strange way this seems rather comforting. Newbees have a tendency to try and prove themselves by doing something popular but stupid. The cold peace between Israel and Egypt has lasted a couple of decades and Egypts military is not willing to sacrifice this without a fight, thankfully.
