Default After Gaza withdrawal
"Palestinians today in 2005 are living in a prison," says Mahdi Abdul Hadi, chairman of the Palestinian Academic Society for International Affairs in East Jerusalem.

"Whether the thousands in Israeli prisons or the 3.5 million living in divided prisons - Nablus is a prison, Jenin is a prison, Tulkarm is a prison... and Jerusalem has been isolated." More Palestinian propaganda to excuse their culture of terrorism. Of course Abdul Hadi is upset that Palestinian mass-murderers are being put in jail. He would rather that they be allowed to live like kings.

But, looking at it from the other side, I guess you could say that 5 million Israelis are living in a prison, fenced in like animals by the neighboring Arab states.

"Living in prisons" makes a great soundbyte.

Ask the Sabras. They're prepared to give up all of Yesha and East Jerusalem, and Golan too, as long as the Syrians let them ski there in the winter. It's pretty clear that Sharon will leave in the fall and will be replaced by a movement that wants to disengage as much as possible as quickly as possible.

They will avoid the whole Jerusalem issue by partitioning it down the middle. They will shelve all discussion of ridiculous Palestinian right of return and they will try to figure out how not to go broke resettling the 140,000 Jews in Yesha who aren't in or contiguous to East Jerusalem. For the remainder they will be left, as it is a densely packed city and they will given something akin to permanent resident alien status in the new Palistan while retaining Israeli citizenship if they so desire. In the meantime the Palistanians will never recover economically if they have to carry Gaza on their back so they will let it devolve into an urban wilderness: South Bronxistan. Israel will be pressured to officially vacate Jerusalem as their capital but they will leave some token official presence there. The biggest urban problem will be how to separate city services so that Israel doesn't pay for and manage E Jerusalem and the Palistanians don't wreck W Jersualem. The UN and all world wide bodies will officially recognize "Jerusalem" as the capital of Palistan in official documents and passports.
