I doubt the PA is seriously considering rewriting pre Islamic history. It's really not up for debate whether the first temple existed or not. What the PA is engaged in is an active program to erase all post Mohammedan Jewish history of Jerusalem. A systematic program of defacement, artifact destruction and flooding to eradicate all Jewish evidence in Jerusalem from the 7th Century CE onward.

That is one reason for the Baal postage stamp that the PA put out, and Palestinians recasting themselves as "Canaanites" and "Amalekites."
