I think that it's part of a growing recognition, after decades of suicide bombings and thousands of dead and wounded Israelis, that Arabs need to be marked as potentially dangerous.
It's a matter of survival, not racism. I'm sure that once Arab and Islamic terrorism stops, there will be no need to view Arabs in this way. But aside from this, there is something that I never understood about Israeli society - For some reason, construction is considered to be dirty work there, and despite huge unemployment in Israel, many Jews are willing to live on welfare instead of taking construction jobs. Not only would Israeli society be much better off economically if the construction sector was populated by Israeli Jews, but it would also greatly reduce the terrorism risk. |

Have any of you ever worked in high security or special access area? - Gee I can't think of too many public spaces on earth that qualify as that more than the Knesset.
I have. Here is how it works: Profiling is real. Get over that thought right away. Anyone who is not precleared is assumed to be a risk. All risk classes are segregated and identified accordingly. All access is managed by risk class. All access can be revoked or reviewed at any time for any reason. |
