Default Should the U.S. set the example for negotiations?
Through all the chaos the U.S. still requests that arafat and peres should meet and talks continue.

Shouldn't the U.S. first settle down with the terrorists and try to make some compromise, some kind of agreement, a treaty of some sort, maybe land for peace, give the whitehouse to them with a huge chunk of land and recognize them as a nation?

What will their reaction be? What have we really been doing wrong to address the problem of terrorism? Israel has beem chided all this time like a naughty child for defending itself for the right to survive, what will the reaction be to the U.S.?
There's always been a completely different standard for the world's willingness to accpet the slaughter of Jews and to force Israel to make potentially disasterous concessions.
