I wouldn't even classify Slipknot as nu-metal. Maybe the first album but it definitely sounds nothing like every other nu-metal band. Not to mention they've been thrown into the NWOAHM as one of the pioneering bands, and people can't seem to agree on what genre they actually are. But I won't kick up much of a fuss about it because you're a fan so we gotta stick together.

So for the sake of this thread, Slipknot is my favourite nu-metal band (and favourite all around band), followed by Flaw. Fear Factory have released some ace albums in their time. Mushroomhead are okay. Linkin Park aren't actually that bad.. well, their actual nu-metal albums aren't. Spineshank released a good/maybe very good album. SOAD released two albums I would deem completely worth while. Staind released an album that changed my life so I'll always love Break the Cycle and to a lesser extent Tormented, Dysfunction and 14 Shades of Grey.

The classification of nu-metal is shit though. I just listed bands that generally get thrown into the genre. I really don't classify some of these bands as nu-metal.

Can't say I'd call Machine Head nu metal either, the've been around since before that term was even thought up.
