Default Looking for Songs
We have this project in English where we have to select 4 time periods of our life and select a song to play as part of a presentation. I have selected four time periods as below, as well as descriptions of them.

PAST: Birth, sort of seeing things for the first time, beginnings, the formations of life.

YOUTH: Quiet, maybe a little lonely, but really comfortable over all.

PRESENT: Invigoration, excitment, really beginning to grow up. Starting to really see the light and plan my future.

FUTURE: Don't worry about this, but keep reading for an explanation.

Now I've hit a little road block. It seems I have an incredibly poor knowledge of current music, and I can't think of any songs to use at all. So for all you music buffs out there, I need some songs that express the ideas stated in the first 3 (I've got something for the last one). This would be greatly appreciated.

Is this something like you are asking for one of the options^^^?

If not, will see if I can come up with anything else...

You walked with me
Footprints in the sand
And helped me understand
Where I'm going

You walked with me
When I was all alone
With so much unknown
Along the way

And just when I
I thought I'd lost my way
You gave me strength to carry on
That's when I heard you say

I promise you
I'm always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow
And despair

And I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand
When I'm weary
Well I know you'll be there
[Footprints In The Sand
Cause I can feel you
When you say

I promise you
I'm always there
When your heart is filled with sadness and despair
Oh, I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand

(choir)

When your heart is full of sadness and despair
I'll carry you
When you need a friend

I promise you
I'm always there
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints
In the sand

How about 'John Lennon - Imagine' for the youth period. I think it captures the overall feel your looking for.

I'd post a youtube to the song, but the site seems to be down at the moment.

Oh yes, that's a good one to do actually - good suggestion there.

Oh right, it wasn't just me then - I tried to post a song from youtube this morning, but wasn't happening. Site is down then, not my computer having probs as before.

I listen to symphonies and concertos, not songs.

Honestly, you should listen to songs. Most people can directly relate to some, and songs help build character.

Well personally I think it would depend on what you remember from that period in your own life.
