upbeat, (albeit secular), music like Kylie Minogue, Enrique Iglesias, etc.??

My ex's new(ish) wife of almost 2 years had decided to ban secular music in my 7 yr. old daughter's world. She is now only allowed to listen to "Christian Contemporary" and "Hanna Montana", (because Hanna Montana is so Christian based... ). Even though my ex, (who just bought a box set by Tool, lolz), doesn't do this himself.

Retarded hey? Well, I decided against this. For her beeday, I'm getting her an ipod shuffle, (or something along the lines of...), and filling it with the music that she has loved listening to for years and the music she loves listening to while being in the car with me.

And, I've told her, (Kate - the wife), this. Haven't gotten a response to that email since then....lolz
C'mon now. Banning music like Kylie Minogue, Enrique Iglesias, etc.??
That don't make sense. What's wrong with that music?
I think she has gone a bit extreme and trying to brainwash your daughter and she's going to resent her stepmom for it. Only a matters of time.

IN fact!! I just remebered this...I always pointed my oldest, (son), to the Tom Petty song, "I Won't Back Down" as a song of strength and inspiration as he goes through his tough preteen/teen years. And the lyrics, truly are, (inspirational). So really, she is banning SO much music that is clearly just fine!
Great song that. Gem.

OMG, I totally forgot to say this!!

This was her repsonse to me when I asked what this was all about, via email, (not quote on quote, as I can't get to outside email right now):

"It took that line in the song "Follow Me" by Uncle Cracker to make my decision final about opting for christian music only. The line goes:

"And I worry 'bout the ring you wear
Cause as long as no one knows
That nobody can care"

GET THIS!! That does NOT mean what she implies it to be. (A guy going after some married woman). LMAO
The WHOLE song is about HIS woman disregarding HIM. And if people don't know about her ring, (marriage), then they can't care about it.

Get it? What a dumbass. I just figured that out a while ago. But, I don't know how to go about bringing it up to her, yanno?

ummm, shit...I guess we're both dumbasses, because neither one is right...

In Rolling Stone, Uncle Cracker himself said the song was about heroin.

Yeah, I know about it, got the full concert on video. The Hells Angels were screwing things up from the start, even before that took place.

And this is what I would say to her if I were you:

"This is my daughter we're talking about, not yours. I'm her mother. And you're just some woman who is fucking her dad. If you want to raise a daughter, get your own. This one is spoken for."

I could use a mild stroke from a good lady.
