On tv last night there was a program about a pianist from Korea with only four fingers, Lee Hee Ah. She isn't just "good . . . for someone with four fingers", she's good by any standards. I was floored. It reminded me of that movie about the future in which piano music is so hard that only genetically manipulated twelve-fingered people can play it. It's nice to know that expressiveness and musicality still count for at least as much as virtuosity, and that those qualities aren't limited to people with "normal" physical and mental characteristics.
Here's a link to a video about Lee Hee Ah: http://www.samtsai.com/p532/hee-ah-l...inger-pianist/ I hate using the words "inspiring story" because it sounds like a hallmark card or after school special, but this actually inspired me, so I thought I'd share it. |
