Default Song identification
I'm looking for the name of a very old song, all I can remember is that the chorus had the words "come what may, we believe in tomorrow" in it. It is not the song written by Ewan McGregor from Moulin Rouge, the one I'm looking for is older, probably from the 60's or 70's.

Can anybody help?

Hi ! i am afraid there are a lot of songs with similar lyrics.

i;e. So Close - Daryl Hall & John Oates, from the album "Change of Season"(1990)

but I think the song you look for is : "We Were Angels"

You can found it at :

http://meikoanime.tripod.com/dbzlyrics.html

Angels, angels, angels,
Angels, angels, angels,
Ahh.....
Buried and drowned in time, all that's left are
memories
Just as you remember too, we used to be angels then
Spreading the words from the highest of heavens
of love and of happiness
dropping seeds of peace to take away the pain and
loniness......................
.................................
If we believe in tomorrow and what it may bring
We can change this planet back into a paradise, yeah I
say
To my friends,
All the pain that we learn from make this love
Never let us forget each other, forever we are friends
..............
Angels, angels, angels,

Sorry, it's not the one I was looking for. My mother remember siging the song during church services in school (which puts the time frame just this side of the stone age). Apparently it's a religious song sung to the melody of one of the classics. I'll update the post if somebody can remember more of the words.

I think you are talking about "I know who holds tomorrow" by Ira Stample.
He also wrote Mansion over the Hilltop.
Try that one out.

Thanks for the replies, but not one of them were for the one I'm looking for.

I did find a track of the song. I'll try and attach it to this message, but with my luck?

I'll appreciate it if anybody can identify the melody. Apparently it's an old classic with new lyrics.

Hi Johan

I have this song on a CD called Encore, sung by Russell Watson.

Whether it is your song I do not know, but it is the same tune

Here are the words.

It is called Va Pensiero

Va Pensiero, sull' ali dorate
Cross the mountains and fly over the oceans
reach the land, find the place where all children go
every night after listening to this lullaby
there you'll find their heroes alive protecting their innocence
bless them all, their simple soul so pure and wonderful.

Va Pensierp, sull'ali dorate
let this beautiful dream carry on for all night long
Arpa d'or dei fatidici vati
perche muta dal salice pendi?
Le memorie nel petto raccendi
ci favella del tempo che fu.

Va Pensiero, sull'ali dorate
va, ti posa sul clivi, sui colli
ove olezzano tepide e molli
l'aure dolci del suolo natal

Every night after listening to this lullaby
fly, thought, on wings of gold
Golden harp of the prophetic seers
why do you hang silent on the willow?
Rekindle memories in our hearts
and speak of times gone by.

Fly, thought, on wings of gold
go settle upon the slopes and the hills
where, soft and mild, the sweet airs
of our native land smell fragrant.

I copied those from the CD.

Spot on Me Margaret!

I can't thank you enough. Although I couldn't understand the lyrics, using the name I found a midi file confirming that it's the right song and after some further hunting I now have the sheet music to toruter the pipe organ with.

That's a beautiful gospel type lovesong. It's very pretty. I will still say it's
a contempory gospel song that is very pretty.
