Default One artist that u wish was still alive?
if u could pick one artist that has died and wish that he/she was still alive, who would u pick?

i would have to say Jeff Buckley. Unfortunately, most people only know him for his cover of Hallelujah from some television shows, as great as that cover is. Not only did he have one of the greatest voices ever, but was also an extremely talented songwriter and a great guitarist. he died after releasing only one album, Grace, one of my favorite albums ever. and now we just have his unreleased material which also shows how great he could have been if he had lived longer.

Singles artist or group member?

If it can be either, I would have to say Cliff Burton of Metallica ... Very, very talented young man who died way before his time.

If we are talking just singles artists though, I may have to get back to you.

I think I'd have to say Hendrix. I really can't think of anybody else I particularly wish was still around (musically) which is a little worrying O_o

As much as I'd love for Lennon to come back, I think Hendrix would be the best choice. I mean, he REVOLUTIONIZED rock music after releasing just 3 cds. He was a natural-born rock-god. Unfortunately, if he were to be alive, it'd mean he would have stayed off drugs. This could lead to the question of "would his music be as good without drugs?".

Who knows?

It's hard to just pick one.

Dimebag Darrell
Jimi Hendrix
John Lennon
George Harrison
Dave Williams
Cliff Burton

There's probably more, but I can't remember.

Bleh...just bleh. As a Nirvana fan...I still don't even get why this man gets the hype as a genius comes from.. in WAYS he was a genious of our time in his own right. However he is far from being a musical great to be remembered forever, towards the last years of his life his peformance detoriated more by each show (which you could argue was the same case with Jimi as he was even booed off the stage in some of his latter pefromances, but fact is is Jimi revolutionised music and needed a break and he knew it himself and Cobain DIDN'T revolutionise anything and wasn't under any TREMENDOUS pressure to peform or write, if he wanted a break, he could take one) his guitar work was never anything to exactly write home about either.

In my own opinion if Nirvana never hit the jackpot with "....Teen Spirit" his suicide would not have come as a shock (considering he had attempted suicide plenty times beforehand) and he would not be held anywhere near the status as he is today. Simple as, Cobain is held in such high regard today simply because he was fronting one of the biggest "it" bands of mainstream America/Europe. I'm not saying he wouldn't have loyal loyal fans (and I'm not implying you're not a true fan here just so y'know) and THEY would hold him in high regard but not as much people who were just on the bandwagon so to say and put him over as one of the all time greats.

Jimi Hendrix.. not just following the line here.
Seriously Hendrix revolutionized how people play the electric guitar.

Could you imagine if Hendrix did things like Carlos Santana, little spin offs with artists, that would be absolutely amazing. My junior highschool elementary teacher was telling us this story of where he was going to this concert with his buddies and he didn't know who was playing. He just heard it was going to be amazing. It was James Marshall Hendrix.. in his heyday. I was floored, I couldn't imagine, getting the chance to see one of my life long heros.

Also Stevie Ray Vaughan, probabally the best guitar player that fronts his own band. The guy has an amazing voice, and probabally some of the sickest chops you've ever seen. MY favorite blues musician of all time. I would love to see what kind of show this guy could put on.

-Honorable Mention(others that I Really, wish were alive)
- Dimebag Darrel (Pantera/Damageplan)
- Brad Nowell (Sublime)
- Bon Scott (AC/DC)
