Yeah, but its not like he was doing all it by himself. He had Paul, George and...ringo as well, and Paul could definatly be seen as a HUGE icon.

David Bowie pretty much is responsible for his own glory. thats why he's the best.

Yeah I admit, Jimi practically founded electric guitar as it is known today, but i would say he is the second best, after Jimmy Page. thats just down to personal opinion though.

Abbath!

Okay. Maybe not. But he still rocks.

I would say Michael Jackson, but he's become more of a pedophile icon than a music icon... so I'll say Elvis.

Michael Jackson. He's been around for decades and has sold an unbelievable amount of records. There pretty much isn't a dancer alive who doesn't look up to him, and just about everyone knows and loves his songs.

Well, I guess realistically it would have to be Elvis. But I think David Bowie is my own personal biggest icon, and I'd say he desirves it the most, but thats mainly out of my own personal opinion.

I'd say Elvis, however my own personal icon would be Johnny Cash.

I'll say Jimi Hendrix, just because of the ammount of people he has helped want to learn to play guitar. And Guitar being the greatest instrument ever, I would see fit that Jimi be the biggest music icon, even though he died pre-maturly for bad causes(drugs and drinks) he still was the greatest guitarist EVER. And that means alot.

I think I'd have to say Elvis, the image alone is so lasting that he's right up there anyway.

David Bowie is incredible.
I think I have to go with Elvis for an overall icon though.

Default The greatest music icon EVER??
Who do you think deserves the title of the greatest music icon ever? im gonna have to go with good old John lennon(the beatles for those of you who don't know!). He has influenced generations of bands, and their music was awesome. apparently they made the first ever heavy metal song aswell...

David Bowie.

Shame on your for not mentioning the guy!

He's done it all, written some of the greatest songs of all time. He even spent a while with no eyebrows, that alone makes him a massive Icon.

Elvis, Lennon, Sinatra, Freddy Mercury, Brian Mc fadden

and the one that'll make people groan and moan i'd say Eminem. He isn't but i think before the latest album he was a potential and possibly still is because the huge fan base he has. Maybe not as far as greatest icon but i think he's the closest we've had in the last 15 years but we're struggling to see anyone get into the leagues of the original list i made recentely which is sad

I think Lennon deserves it the most... he has influenced many many people... way more than Bowie I would of thought! I admit Bowie is up there, but not the biggest.
