I agree with Nabbe, music is subjective and a list like that is about a spointless as you get. I'd take the rolling stones over led zepplin any day of the week, but I can definately see why others would not. Its all about your particular tastes in music. Some people might not even know who roy oberson and chuck berry were. me I'd say they'd be on any top 50 list. No mention of anyone non rock either(rolling stones may be slightly slanted their)

Its a totally bullshit list. It says the top 50 ARTISTS of all time. Since it doesn't specify just rock & roll or any specific music type and then goes on to not include people like Frank SInatra,Bing Crosby,Barbra Streisand etc its pretty hard to take it seriously. granted most people on these boards will say all 3 of them don't belong on the list, but anyone who knows anything about music and is seriously discussing "top artists" of ALL TIME I think would be a tad surprised to not see them there. How in hell does any list expect to be taken seriously when it rated Madonna higher than John Lennon or David Bowie? Where is CCR or Bob Seger? Very weak listing in my humble view.No wonder I don't subscribe to Rollin stone magazine.

that list is horrible. The only thing it got right was the number one pick. I don't care much for the Beatles but I understand how much they've changed music. As for the rest of the picks, meh. The Stones over Led Zeppelin? That's laughable.

Peace.

Well, if a top fifty list has over fifty artists/bands, then it wouldn't be a top fifty, would it?

Rolling Stone can fuck themselves. Music is completely subjective, and lists like that is just bloody pointless.

Well, that just kills the list's credibility right there. Guns n' Roses had a major impact on the 'bad boy' rock image back in '87 when they released Appetite for Destruction. And no Metallica? Heh, Metallica was the #1 metal band in the 80s, so that's absolute crap. Nirvana and U2 over those two bands is laughable. Way to go RS!

I agree with Shocker and the member formally known as Big Show - GnR and Metallica should both be on there.

I hope "The Band" isn't referring to that lame little group on MTV's puffy thing. Specially considering I didn't see "the band that saved music in the mid '90s" as said by Rolling Stone about Nine Inch Nails

Rolling Stone can't be real rock fans if they don't even put Creedance Clearwater Revival anywhere in that list, it's unexcusable o_O.

Peace.
