Default Not moving forward, repeating lessons, or being stuck...
I noticed several threads lately about being stuck or not moving forward & repeated life lessons. I ran across a book that I am going to get. Has anyone read The Transformation: Healing Your Past Lives to Realize Your Soul's Potential by Ainslie Macleod?

I checked the reviews at Amazon & read everyone of them. Here are parts from 4 of the reviews:

1) I really didn't know what to expect from this book. I briefly heard the author interview Oprah and wasn't sure if he was onto something real, or if he had his own system that was a little gimmicky and wasn't Universally applicable. It wasn't until a month or so ago that some very trusted professional psychics I know raved about his work. So I thought I would take a closer look. WOW! I was really blown away.

This book came at a time when I was really feeling down about where the world is heading. I am a naturally positive person, but the recent oil spill in the Gulf combined with the movie GASLAND I just watched (highly recommended by the way) really had me feeling helpless about what I can do to help this polluted planet. My intuition guided me to this book. I figured, if I cannot do anything about the world, at least I can heal my feelings about helplessness, and thought this book would help. I was really amazed when in his introduction he talked about how his Guides led him to write this book to help change the world, and nothing was mentioned about past lives. Fascinating! It had my attention! I then went on to read his explanation of what all of the great spiritual teachers say, that if we want to change the world we need to raise our consciousness, and one way to do that is to heal our past lives. Well, that sounds very easy and pat doesn't it? But he does have some fascinating observations about how past life traumas are affecting us now and they really rang true in a way Î would not have put together before.

For instance, he speaks of those who are always seeking knowledge, going to seminars, reading non-fiction as people who did not fulfill their soul's purpose in a previous incarnation, so they have this sense of needing to fill every moment with something meaningful (since our soul's ultimate purpose is to learn). It really rang true to me, and he gave so many exercises to heal these fears. In a way, something will ring true with almost all of the phobias he mentions, so it's worth reading it through and doing the exercises.

2) I was interested in "The Transformation" because the advertising for it indicated that it was about achieving "stage four consciousness"--the next evolutionary step in our spiritual journey. The author, Ainslie MacLeod, says that we have to release our past life fears in order to make this shift in consciousness, which his spirit guides call the "Transformation." He says that we are currently living in "the illusion," an invisible barrier between us and the soul world, and our fears block us from the transformation. The 3 steps to transformation are: 1) identify your past-life fear; 2) find the motivation to change; and 3) connect with your soul's goal. MacLeod says there are ten past life fears: authority, loss, inferiority, betrayal, failure, intimacy, self-expression, powerlessness, death, and rejection. By overcoming your soul's fears, you elevate your consciousness to Stage Four. There are also ten Transformational Goals: equality, cooperation, respect, justice, knowledge, understanding, truth, freedom, peace, and love. Each of these is a chapter in the book.

So how does this work? As an example, Chapter 4 relates to the fear of inferiority. The goal is the achievement of respect and finding your inner strength. The inner motivation that overcomes this fear is self-determination. The chapter starts with a short explanation and then MacLeod introduces one of his clients who has inferiority issues. MacLeod says that in a past life she was a boy who was abused by his father, and the boy later hung himself. MacLeod explains that a past-life fear of inferiority is triggered in this life when you allow someone to manipulate or control you. He then lists about 10 "resonances" that would trigger past life inferiority fears, such as feeling a victim of cir***stances or letting other people run your life. Then there are more personal stories as well as several exercises to overcome the fear. One of the exercises is to visualize yourself as a superhero and imagining that you are confident and standing up for yourself in a situation where you normally wouldn't do so. MacLeod also suggests becoming more proactive in shaping your own destiny as well as doing spiritual acts to help others.

3) If you are new to the concept of reincarnation, you should start with something more introductory. This book discusses reincarnation in spiritual terms, and from the Big Picture perspective. The Transformation will *not* tell you how to regress or be regressed.

Having gotten that out of the way...

The book is based on the spiritual belief that, out of necessity, human beings, somewhere along the way, had to subscribe to The Illusion, which basically means that in order to learn on the earthly level for spiritual evolution purposes, we had to forget our souls, our uniqueness, our special-ness. While this was necessary to an extent, it has also been very detrimental to ourselves and to all humans, animals and nature in general. In order to transform, we must now break through The Illusion.

Chapters are divided according to 10 related Goals (justice, respect, freedom, etc.), Motivations (honesty, fairness, forgiveness, etc.) and Fears (powerlessness, intimacy, loss, etc.). For example, chapter five is titled "The Expectation of Justice" and its related issues are Betrayal > Fairness > Justice. Note that not every chapter will apply to readers, so from that standpoint, this book is something to be shared with friends anod others, so that they can identify their own issues and take the lessons, and perform the exercises given. (According to the author, "We've incarnated frequently enough that we have elements of all ten past life fears...Some may affect us more than others.")

There is also a clearing out aspect to the lessons within. Anecdotes tell of how our irrational fears in this lifetime can be related to past lives, and, ideally, once we clear out those issues (by simply becoming aware of them from past life instances), we no longer need to hold on to them in this life.

4) This book was well organized and bursting with information, providing an exhaustive breakdown of the types of trauma you can carry over from past incarnations, symptoms of each, and how to deal (quickly and effectively) with them. There wasn't a whole lot of reading or background required (although, of coarse, you can read the book cover to cover, if you wish). I was able to identify and locate the information I needed quickly, and get to the work I needed to do, which is perfect, because sometimes it's easy to get so absorbed by material that I actually forget to USE IT! Five stars!

Please share if you have read the book or something similar.
