Hi lemongrass, I know exactly what you mean I am on the same journey, Nice to know I have company lol.

I think we are approaching this in the same way. I am also scared of the dark. I have even warned my guide about this. I have asked that I not see anything when home alone after dark, as far as shadows or movements in the hall & such.

Drea, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Sorry about that.

It's okay. I'm just glad to read thoughts on the subject.
I have relief that my "psychic intuition" is not violating anyone. I got kind of worried that connecting to someone's wavelength and having that flow with them or not talking to someone and getting a feeling or knowing was a big NO-NO. Of course, that intuition is how I got some friends in life. You just feel that gravitation to a person. Then, I have also got the sense at times that I should run now, run fast... away.

Thanks, all you!

Despite any intuition or empathic information received, it's understood (or should be at least) to be treated in the "spirit" of confidence and on a "need to know" basis. This is what got us into this problem to begin with the issue of free will vs control. It isn't rocket science my friend just common courtesy I think.

Don't be concerned about inadvertantly picking things up. That's akin to happening to hear snatches of loud public conversations, in that you really can't help hearing it.

The inappropriate part would be DELIBERATELY setting out to read someone without them being aware of it. That would be more like a wiretap on someone's phone, as they don't know you're listening in and have no chance to guard their thoughts or shield themselves.

It's bad manners to "read" someone without permission, we agree.

What about all those things you feel coming from someone?

Also, a psychic like Mary O., who does those spontaneous anywhere readings... what's up with that? Can people block themselves from being read? Do the spirits say, "Yo! Come here, I need to get a message across!" Then do you listen to the person or the spirit?

Drea, I don't have the answer, I'll leave that for the more experienced.

I would like to tell you about something I do. I tell family members & friends that have passed & my spirit guides if they need to get a message to me & can't get through to me to please send message through someone here if they can. I would say that this is my way of giving them permission. I send out these messages after grounding & protection. I do specify that it is only to spirits of the divine white light.

I am trying to be more in tune & listen & watch for messages. I sometimes wonder off in thoughts & probably miss so much. I am working on it.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Mary O is a disgrace to our profession. Don't start me on her.

You mean you get information that flows to you about people? That's not "reading" them, that's called psychic intuition.

Reading someone is telling them events, giving them future predictions, it can even be connecting to spirits for them. To read a partner of someone is prying into them. Seeing if he/she is cheating, tapping in to feel if they are in love with the questioner.. that is prying.

If you simply are near someone and get feelings and information, that's normal and it helps to keep us safe or helps to connect us for reasons we may not know.

Can you block a reader? oh my yes! Just ask your guides to stop allowing your energy to be read. I'm often told that I'm very difficult to read. I put up shields and boundaries that the spirit world abides by.

Lemograss we are on the same wavelength re messages. Like you I am trying to acknowledge any messages/signs quite often getting them wrong in the process. Thanks to Laura and everyone who guides me I am slowly getting there.

Blessings

Drea cannot comment on Mary O as I do not recognize her name. Spontaneous readings mmmm not sure on that one as it could prove to be embarrassing or uncomfortable for some people. A bit confused by what you mean by "listen to the person or the spirit".
Feelings from someone is what I call gut instinct and I believe everyone has these feelings.

I have never heard of Mary O. I have only heard of a few mediums on TV. I have watched John Edward the most. I’ve seen James van Praagh, Sylvia Brown & Lisa Williams just two or three times each on TV. I don’t do readings & am probably too old for that. I have so much to learn & my focus is just being able to communicate more with my spirit guides & learning from them how to make better decisions so that I can be a better person. I am most interested in the after life because it is so comforting to me, after years of being taught that it’s heaven or hell & only one life on earth. I hope this makes since. I hope what I said earlier wasn’t confusing. I have read on here before that you can block people from reading you. I do think this is a good thing. I am just so thrilled to know that I have guides that want to help me get through this life & figure out my life purpose & stay on track.
