I am a space nerd to the core. I remeber the first time I saw the space station. I live in Vegas and of course, we have a light pollution problem. I went out of town about an hour with an astronomy group. It was so amazing to be able to see it's shape so clearly with the naked eye. It's a cool experience, for sure.

spacecadet, it was only by chance that i saw it. We arived at my girlfriends sister's place, i asked my girlfriends brother inlaw ''so when are you getting a nice telescope'' cause the sky is very clear by them. At that moment i looked up to see if i can spot any other satelites, usually theyre very small but move quite fast. Theyre visable for about 30 seconds before they fade away. i looked for about 5 seconds and saw these huge 2 lights passing between earth and moon. Imediately i told em look thats the iss. It was dark so we only had a limited time to look at it before the sun's reflection faded on it. Good experience though. I think it must be nice to go out in the desert there in vegas... The sky must be real clear there

It's always clear, but you have to go far away from Vegas. Near the test site up North is insanely beautiful. You can see everything so clearly.

Take a few hours a week and spend it looking up at night, many satelites are visable, though not for long. The iss was just very low comparing to the moon when i saw it
