Default interesting experiences during meditation
Hi All,

Over the past two years or so, I often have spontaneous images pop up in my field of vision during meditation, and sometimes these images come when I'm not meditating and my eyes are closed. I wanted to share the way that I work with these images, and see if anyone had any suggestions for better understanding them.

I treat these experiences as "mini-dreams", or symbolic messages from the unconscious. I then use a psychoanalytic technique of association, which basically involves bringing the image to mind again, and then seeing the next thing that comes to mind. Or the next emotion, or the next intuition. Also useful for me is considering what I was thinking about when the image came up. Or else, sometimes the immediate intuition after the image is enough to give me some sort of meaning. All these techniques, together or separately, seem to give me a good perspective on what the message actually means.

Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to enrich my understanding, and/or approach these images differently?

Thanks

What I'm getting is the similarity of what is called a "splash panel" in the comic book business. It is usually the first full page after the cover and provides the "hook" to get you interested in the story line. Also am feeling some kind of "subliminal cuts" maybe. This is a practice of placing a film frame in a film to get one interested in buying someting without the conscious mind being aware. Someone or something wants your attention in any case.

I think you're correct in assuming that these spontaneous images have some sort of meaning. And your methods of working to understand them seem reasonable.

However, as Richwil points out, sometimes such images are a projection from someone or something, rather than you own mind trying to deliver a message.

For quite a few months, I kept receiving seemingly random images with a predominantly Native American theme. And, while I have utmost respect for Native Americans, the images really didn't seem to convey any particular message to me...

until I realized that these were images being sent to me by my mother. They seem to have been memories of a Native American village she visited with her parents as a small girl. She was fascinated by their lifestyle, music, and dances.

Why did she send images to me? Because we had a virtually non-existant relationship, and hardly ever spoke to each other. I had tentatively reached out to her, and forgave her. She was seemingly too ashamed to speak to me, but wanted to return my gesture. I guess she felt comfortable enough to send me some of her memories.

So if the images don't quite make sense, perhaps look to see who might be behind them. Those on the other side of "the great divide" don't always communicate with us in ways we expect.

I agree with the others, I do guided meditation in a group. The other week I saw a pic of a foetus, all wrapped up, and great excitement.

At the end of the meditation the teacher asks for feedback, I tell her about the baby, and tell everyone that its not for me, Im not pregnant, so who is!!! to everyones laughs. The teacher smiles and opens her notebook, she also heard "Baby Coming" three times!!!!!

It turns out the girl 3 seats down is trying for a baby!!!!!!

How cool is that!!!!
Messages from Spirit!!!!!
